Administrative court: Cookie banner must contain "Reject all" button
Reply in thread
And it should include this mysterious 'legitimate interest', or whatever it is called - always on by default in 'my choices', even though no one seems to be able to explain what this means. How can I make an informed consent on something that vague?
On the other hand, not 'Reject All', but 'Reject All except functionally necessary' (which should be precisely regulated by the law), otherwise there will be no cookie to remember our 'reject all' choice, which I am sure the corpos would happily use do discourage us from clicking that.

"Stuff school should have taught me" material is actually stuff your parents should have taught you.
And what if one has shitty parents?

Millions of children and teens lose access to accounts as Australia’s world-first social media ban begins
Reply in thread
That is why I think FB and others might been quietly lobbying for this solution. This way they can stll be predatory, as long as the kids pretend to be adult. Or just abuse adult users. The alternative, of not being evil, is not compatible with their business model. But it is the business model that should be banned, not socializing online by teenagers.

Volkswagen says it can now make cars entirely in China
Chinese manufacturers can make cars in China too, easier an cheaper, especially after such 'technology transfer' (they learn a lot manufacturing for someone else). And then the western companies cry about 'unfair competition'.

Selfhosted Jira alternative
When JIRA practically stopped supporting self-hosted installations we migrated to YouTrack and it worked quite well. Not as powerful, but the simplicity also comes as an advantage.

EU lawmakers push to ban term 'veggie-burger'
"sausage" and "burger" describe the form, not the content. I can see why 'plant ham' or 'plant bacon' is a nonsense, but sausage can be filled with anything.

TSMC Arizona struggles to overcome vast differences between Taiwanese and US work culture
I hope they can be held accountable for mistreating those 'transplants" (what an ugly word!) too. But I guess that would be easier here in EU than in USA.

Stop using MySQL in 2026, it is not true open source
Reply in thread
That is an insult to PostgreSQL. PostgreSQL was fully featured relational database even before it implemented SQL. It started much earlier tha MySQL.
And MySQL didn't have proper transactions or data integrity constraints (including foreign keys) for long time, while calling itself an 'SQL database'.

The new (current) government promised a lot of improvement, but did very little. And during current presidential campaign (elections this Sunday) they don't even pretend they care much about LGBT rights.
