Thoughts on Endless OS?
I think it’s cool. The kids think it’s okay. It’s a great concept, for mostly offline educational and fun content. I’d recommend trying it.

TIL that the characters of Vasquez in Aliens (1986) and the stepmother in Terminator 2 (1991) were played by the same actor, Jenette Goldstein, apparently donning brownface for the earlier role
I think the groundbreaking part was Dan O'Bannon’s note in the Alien script that gave us more amazing characters in Aliens.
“At the start of Dan O'Bannon’s script for Alien, there’s a note that few other screenplays contain: “The crew is unisex and all parts are interchangeable for men or women.” It’s a line that fundamentally altered the nature of the film, affecting everything from the presentation of its characters to the way Ridley Scott and his team approached casting, and it was certainly for the best.”

Owners mourn spoiled food after firmware update bricks Samsung smart fridges
Time for me to get on my Samsung soapbox, and it is for an entirely different reason but very relevant for why you shouldn't buy a Samsung appliance!
Never. I repeat NEVER, buy a Samsung home appliance. For this reason ONLY. Especially when it comes to food preservation… or simply keeping food cold.
Here is the thing. Samsung will not let approved service repair companies stock parts. I repeat, WILL NOT LET APPROVED SERVICE REPAIR COMPANIES STOCK PARTS. So if you buy a Samsung refrigerator through Home Depot… and it breaks under warranty… you will get an apologetic service technician that will confirm that your appliance is broken.
Great!… I already knew that. That's why all of my perishables are starting to smell funny. The service person feels bad for you but they don't have the part to fix your appliance. They can order the part within 24 hours and be back this time tomorrow. Did you already have to take the day off work for the 6 hour service window???
Well this is all super annoying especially if you bought the EXTRA large capacity refrigerator and freezer… that NO ONE has enough coolers and ice to preserve…
Okay, so the service person orders the part and, dang… that wasn't the problem!
Weird, Okay so NOW the service person will order the more expensive part that is actually the problem. All of the ice in the cooler has melted. All of your cooler food has spoiled.
The refrigerator THREE DAYS LATER is now fixed. F#*k Samsung appliances. And this is the annoying part about all their 5 star reviews. Yeah they look nice when you give them their stars but their reliability is GARBAGE!!!
If an "appliance company" will not let service people stock parts… for the love of god DON'T BUY IT.
Lastly… Samsung ice makers ARE THE WORST!!! You will only have REGRETS. REALLY!!!!!!

the future is now
Y’all mad at it being AI, but I think you might have missed out on a very fun thermodynamics problem… How cold does it need to be outside to keep the beer at a chilled drinking temperature, but also how thick does the insulating layer need to be between them and the beer to keep them comfortable, without going hypothermic? I’ve been out of the physics game for a while so I cheated and asked AI.
- “Chilled beer” target: 4 °C
- Skin temperature (inner surface facing the beer): ≈33 °)
- Beer thermal conductivity ≈ 0.6 W/(m·K)
- Heat-loss budget (steady-state) for comfort at rest ≈ 80 W per m²
- Required foam liner ≈ 9.4 mm (0.37 in)
Kind of bulky for an average outing but given a certain situation or event!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
AI is a really dumb content generator but can be an interesting fun fact approximater!

Shooter kills three children and one teacher at Oregon elementary school
Reply in thread
Oregon's "strict" gun laws are basically a rumor. Measure 114 passed in 2022 and has never taken effect, lawsuits and lawmakers keep kicking it down the road.
So what we actually have is background checks. Now put 2+2 together and realize a 16 year old was never buying a gun legally in the first place. Whatever he used started as somebody's legal purchase… let that sink in.
Meanwhile, the story everyone wants to sell you, once again, is the armed bystander. Which is exactly the kind of story that sells more guns, especially out here in Oregon. More guns sitting in trucks and closets where a teenager can get to them, a teenager who never got a background check, or a thief who can steal them and sell them to someone nobody background checked either.
Four people are dead. Three children. One teacher.
I'll keep waiting for the part where the system and our "stricter" gun laws worked.

Stephen Miller Yells About American City ‘Bloodbath’ in Unhinged Rant
What I heard in there is that America is one of the most dangerous places on earth because of gun violence. Weird that republicans say guns keep us safer, and that we should keep the most devastating weapons legal, and must absolutely lower the bar to the lowest level so anyone can obtain them in the name of American liberties. This administrations is filled with maggots that will continue fueling themselves off the dead bodies resulting from gun violence, while pinning the blame on the boogeyman, and not their policies and agendas.
Maggots.
