YSK the THINK Acronym
"Hey! You bike is getting stolen!"
Is it true - yes. Is it helpful - to the owner, yes; to the thief, no. Is it inspiring - no, not really.
Okay, let's stay silent.
It's just a joke, don't kill me.

But I'm a Nice Guy(TM)!
The greatest suffering in life, that anyone can experience no matter who they are, is unfulfilled expectations. Girl isn't interested in you, Weather isn't what you want. Boss didn't give you a rise etc.
According to Buddhism solution is to stop expecting things of others, of life, of reality. You can only control yourself, expect of yourself if you must.
Perhaps a bit of an exotic philosophy, but I think it applies here nicely.

How it feels to scroll Lemmy as an Eastern European
Eh, could be worse. You could join Lemmy Europe hoping that it won't be 90% news from USA.

Obvious choice
I have explanation, but you will not like it.
Parking lots have been built on cheap. Those who have roofs can't support any added weight, while those who do not have roofs are far away from any serious electrical connection able to give the energy outside.
The whole idea can be done... on new parking lots.
Also - how about instead we build more water-plant power storage? They pump water to the upper reservoir using electricity in the middle of day, and then produce electricity from flowing water at dawn/dusk/night. This would up the demand for electricity when solar panels are overproducing it and push businesses to consider including solar panels in their constructions.

Regulate advertising space and personalization algorithms.
Yes, it will kill a large portion of current economy, so maybe do it slowly. But generally speaking you should be able to find what you want on the internet, not what advertisers want you to see.

Android will become a locked-down platform in 194 days
I'll be frank with you. As long as my customers are captive on either Apple or Google platforms I can't do shit.

What are your thoughts on people who are against pacifism?
Pacifism, like democracy and capitalism, are functional only if everyone participate in them in good faith. There was never in human history a group of people where everyone participated in something in good faith.

Straight people, would you date a non-binary person?
To be fair, I don't think I would date someone whose whole personality is just their gender...
Aside from that - depends who they are, how they behave etc.

Those in countries with universal healthcare, what's it like?
Poland
My country may be poor backwards post-soviet hole, but social media and news present USA as Fallout-style post-apocalyptic dystopia.
Every member of my family has a family doctor assigned (it's the same one for convenience). This doctor reminds us about mandatory vaccinations and tips us if there are any diseases spreading (for preparation sake). If anyone is seek we can usually schedule visit within a week, and most standard medicines are fairly cheap due to governmental control.

From home since epidemic started and I would want to hug covid if it was a person.
My productivity in office was always low. Too many distractions, too many inconveniences. Then there is an issue with getting to the office - it's an additional hour of my life they are not paying extra for. And of course - at home I can work while doing simple chores. But the most important is that I can be with my daughters, instead of being just another father that spends half a day at work and the other half sleeping.

What would realistically happen if universal healthcare went into effect in the US and healthcare was no longer tied to jobs?
Many companies would lose profit. Many greedy fucks would not be able to afford their third yaht and fifth house.

Europeans must recognize US, China and Russia are ‘dead against’ us, says Macron

Well, USA is quite dominant and their imperial politics have been permeating across the world for quite some time.
Europe should probably focus inwards and try to gain more independence from outside actors. EU can do it, mostly, it just doesn't want to because milions of voters cannot outvote a lobbying company.

Good question
Lack of expectation that wherever I am and whatever I do anyone can just call me to get instant answer.
Also - less societal control. Kids nowadays can't go anywhere in public without their parents. They either get kicked out, have police sicced at them, or spaces where anyone can hang out for free are regularly erased. Case in point - even online spaces are now slowly closed from non-adults. In my youth one could go to any of the public spaces and hang out there for free with nobody troubling you.
World now feels like it's strongly geared towards raising slaves - always available, always under control, even rest seems to be paywalled.

the trouble with anarchism is all that liberty
Part of anarchism that bothers me is that without central authority keeping track of everything my ability to find specific help I need would be solely dependent on whether I or any of my friends know person with that particular set of skills.
