Why does the USA have so few legal protections for ordinary people, and how can we change that?

I finally was able to cancel a Telus home security service after they tried to put me in a 3 yr contract. I finally was able to cancel. I sent the equipment back and then they started charging me other monthly fees as if I had renewed. I didn't even have their equipment anymore.

another 45 minutes on the phone and they say it is finally cancelled. But who knows. I'll probably have to call again when they take the amount from my bank account despite removing my bank info from their site.

A company with 19.2M users. Imagine how many people are robbed "by mistake." This is not a mistake but part of their internal procedures.

Cancelling a service even when contract is over is made difficult on purpose.

Spotify quietly moves lyrics behind a paywall.

My biggest problem is the censure. I'm in my car, "hey google play teenage dirt bag on spotify". Sounds great until the "her boyfriends a dick he brings a [silence]. And he'd simply kick my ass..."

Or Jay-Z story of OJ : "rich jigga, poor jigga, house jigga, field jigga"

What? Seriously loses all context and meaning.

Spotify redefining the message of whatever was happening... Some cracker ass Swedish company censuiring the n-word when used by an artform that is legitimate and on purpose.

That's why I collect vinyl. Can't change that shit up on my listening it. It's the way it is. If Jay Z wanted to use the N word then I want to hear it like it is. Not some bullshit "jigga" shit wtf is that? Isn't it denying his message?

DOJ Opens Door To Stripping Citizenship Over Politics | It's the latest example of the Trump administration's assault on citizenship.

I have three nationalities. Born in Argentina and was naturalized at 8 yrs old in the USA when my parents moved. Been living in Canada since 2000 and also a citizen. I am legally bound to declare taxes in the US, even if I never made a penny working there. Revoking citizenship is expensive and requires a lot of paperwork. Fuck you MAGA, fuck you Trump. Take my citizenship away, I'll gladly give it back. I'll save thousands per year not having to deal with your backwards ass-shit citizenship based tax laws.

Trump Thinks He Can Take Away Citizenship From Anyone He Doesn’t Like | The president is now musing about trying to revoke Rosie O'Donnell’s birthright citizenship because he doesn’t like her

You still need to file... It's complex as shit. It's not an easy filing with turbo tax when you have a company, partners who are not dual citizens etc. I'm by no means rich but I shouldn't have to file taxes where I'm not residing. And if I wanted to get rid of my citizenship it's also expensive and you have to have filed for the past 7 years. It's not about pity. It's about what is ethical. And being the only country to do this it isn't ethical.
