5 - a cheerfully written letter addressed to the slain party's significant other, describing in glowing terms how the slain party feels like they have a new lease on life ever since kicking some unnamed and dreadful disease, and how they can't wait for this last job to end so they can come back home and start being the husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend/whateverfriend that they always wanted to be.

That's the real question, isn't it? When our employers demand more of our time than we get to spend with our actual families, the take-it-slow life just isn't a possibility. Unless you're independently wealthy.

There is always a social media propaganda campaign going on. On just about any subject you can think of. Is this really the first time you're noticing? You do know that governments, political parties and corporations employ people whose only job is to study and manipulate social media trends, right? What do you think a social media 'influencer' is?

It's pretty much a thankless job 80% of the time - which is why I have to take my joy from the act of creating something and NOT from the approval and appreciation of my players. It's sad that it has to be like this, but it's always been this way - at least in my experience.

I've been to a few 'clothing optional' events in my time - and this is how I have successfully navigated those events:

  • Don't talk to a naked woman unless SHE initiates the conversation.
  • Don't make ANY comments about a naked woman's appearance unless SHE comments about yours FIRST.
  • Keep your eyes on a naked woman's FACE.

Is this stupid and unfair? Yes. Have I ever been asked to leave one of these events, or gotten into any trouble? No. If you can't handle it, don't go to these types of events.

God, PLEASE...go with actually faster combat. It's hard enough to get everyone to commit to showing up to the game for a few hours on any kind of a regular basis. Don't waste what little time they DO have to tell stories together with pointless minutia. Just one guy's (very fervent) opinion. ;)

I believe a fair and reasonable restocking fee is absolutely justified when customers try to game the system. Having worked in several retail establishments over the years, I can tell you that this sort of behavior is rampant and I've seen lots of really shady shit from people, including:

  • Buying clothes for a special event and then trying to return them the next day.
  • Buying a tool to fix something in your home, and then trying to return it the next day.
  • Breaking an item that you purchased, and then wanting to return it, claiming that it is defective.

People are opportunists. If there are no controls in place to keep some people from doing shitty things, some people will do shitty things.

Linux gaming for a non-technical person?

I've been using Linux Mint for the last....eight years? I think? Anyway, it's been great for gaming and if you want a minimum of fussing about, I would just install Steam and use Proton for compatibility. It's by far the easiest and most tinker-free gaming experience for Linux - at least in my experience. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had to really research and tinker with any annoying issues. protondb.com has been extremely helpful in checking the compatibility of a certain game for Linux and even offers tips and tricks to make the fussier games work.
