Steam Deck OS on the Asus ROG Ally looking ever more likely thanks to new update [added support for “extra ROG Ally keys” and “Asus ROG Raikiri Pro controller.”]

Given the ridiculously low prices of all Steam Deck models, I imagine that the main revenue for Valve is mainly from increased game sales rather than profit from their hardware. If that's the case, it makes sense to see Steam OS on as many devices as possible, even if they compete directly with the Steam Deck.

That being said, I'm just excited by any decision that puts Linux in front of more users.

COSMIC Alpha 2 Released

So far, I'm really impressed with how COSMIC is turning out. Depending on your use case, it might not be ready for daily driving, but it works perfectly for my needs. Its especially impressive as an Alpha, because it freezes up a lot less on me compared to KDE.

Does the Fediverse give you hope?

Mark Zuckerburg was up there at the inauguration because he is one of the richest men alive, and he became so mostly because of the platforms he owns.

By using the Fediverse and not his platforms, I'm denying him revenue from ads and data, even if its an infinitely small amount.

Use open platforms, give your money to ethical businesses and keep it from these assholes. Money isn't the only way for someone to have power, but there's no denying that the net worth on that inauguration stage was the most concentrated anywhere on earth. Don't give them a cent more.

Genuine question: is there a way to disable political content on Lemmy?

On Eternity for Lemmy, its super easy.

After the election. I decided I just needed to take a break from the constant stream of negativity. Using these keywords in my post filter has removed political posts almost completely:

Trump, Kamala, Vance, Walz, Biden, Harris, Donald, Republican, Republicans, Democrat, Democrats, GOP, DNC, MAGA, liberal, conservative, government, court, Military, NATO, Nazi, Election, genocide, fascist, fascism, Twitter, trans, gender, police, cop, cops, abortion, federal, Europe, U.S., American, China, Israel, Gaza, Palestine, Russia, Russian, Chinese, Ukraine, Cruz, Thomas,

I recognize my privilege of being able to ignore these posts temporarily, and hope to come back from my hiatus with the will to do something about our awful political situation.

Militaries are rushing to replace human soldiers with AI-powered robots. That will be disastrous, experts warn.

Wars are won by killing the enemy and breaking their stuff. By capturing and controlling land, means of production, supply and transport lines, and so on, you impose your will on your enemy and remove the capability for them to do the same to you.

Drones will be used to destroy enemy assets, take out ground troops, and maintain control of of the above mentioned resources. You'll never just have one drone army meet another on an open field, that's not even how human soldiers fight anymore.
