I created a GitHub repository to showcase COSMIC projects.
I included the projects I could find but if you have an project and want to include it, please open a pull request with your project added to the applications.ron or applets.ron file.
How to make flatpaks for COSMIC applets
I made an applet for COSMIC, but I am not able to figure out how to make a flatpak out of it. Do i just follow the instructions for a normal flatpak or is there a just ___ command to do it for me. I have no prior experience making flatpaks.
Bluetooth problems on Pop_OS!
Hi everyone!
I've been a happy Gnome and Fedora Silverblue on a Surface Go user but I'm always happy to learn about new DE's in Linux. After trying and hating KDE on my Steam Deck desktop mode, I wanted to see if Cosmic would be the perfect middleground and installed it on my wife old MacBook Pro 2012 which was previously running Fedora Workstation flawlessly.
After some light struggles with Ventoy, I managed to install Pop_OS! 24.04 and everything was working except the wifi, which is a known issue with these Macs.
The bluetooth for my Surface Modern Mobile Mouse worked fine at that moment, but as soon as I rebooted afther the necessary commands to get the wifi card working ( sudo apt install firmware-b43-installer , sudo apt install linux-firmware , sudo reboot ), the mouse got disconnected.
I tried many things, installed blueman and the mouse is seen, but as soon as I connect to it, it disconnect.
As I wanted to isolate the issue, I uninstalled the wifi card ( sudo apt remove firmware-b43-installer, sudo reboot) and then had a perfectly working bluetooth mouse.
So for now, I have to choose between my bluetooth mouse and wifi, and both are important features.
Thanks for your help!
Othewise, the experience is good even if a bit buggy/feature lacking with these problems:
- can't configure the f3 key to automatically tile windows on a workspace
- being force to use 4 fingers gesture to move between workspaces instead of 3 on Gnome (muscle memory). It's difficult for me and my big hands to lay for fingers on the trackpad and I prefer it to the keyboard shortcut which I can't configure to be the same as in Gnome
- no ability to force an application to automatically be moved on a certain workspace (on Gnome I have 6 applications opening at startup and each one is going on its own workspace with the auto move extension)
- added a Webdav access to my cloud storage through Cosmic files, only for it to disappear after rebooting the next day
Edit: Edit: sudo apt install broadcom-sta-dkms worked so huge thanks to Anon5621! Now I just have to find solutions to the minor annoyances listed at the end of my post.
I tried customizing an "Easy" Linux Desktop | YouTube@juxtopposed
I found COSMIC recently and decided to customize it as much as I can! Hope you enjoy!

IP address viewer for COSMIC Desktop
I made an applet to show the user's current public IP address in the panel. This is the first proper rust app I've made. Hopefully someone finds it useful! 😁.
Currently, you have to compile the code manually using just to install it. I was wondering if someone could guide me in making a flatpak for my app (will just vendor automatically make it 🤔)

I hit a kernel panic after the upgrade.
The fix was easy enough for me to find and correct, out of space in the efi part due to windows dual boot stuff in there too. I removed the old kernel rebuilt and I was good.
I wo der how many people hit that and were stumped.
My 2 concerns to date are
1 just a bad file manager. Its dumbed down for people and I hate it.
2 lack of support for veracrypt volumes.
Linux kernel security threat CopyFail (CVE-2026-31431)
I don't know if there is any Pop_OS! dev on this forum. But, I hope that they are aware of this.

Guys, I've been trying all kinds of stuff to have the Hearthstone Deck Tracker work on my Pop!_OS 24.04 to play Battlegrounds.
I've tried using Lutris, with all kinds of runners, and this last weekend I've tried with Bottles.
In Lutris it would run in a separate window that was not overlapping, and it seemed only to show (stuck) only the first screen in hero selection.
In Bottles it did run, but super laggy and still in a separate window non-overlapping. So posting here hoping someone could share a configuration that would enable me to run Hearthstone Deck Tracker :D
Other wise; my first Linux-experience ever - and I love it!
Work stuff easy to setup, CS2 runs fine enough (just having cheater issues due to Faceit not supporting Linux and Valve just sucks) - and I only had to boot in Windows to play Hearthstone Battlegrounds with the Deck Tracker.
(Also having a small issue with my two screens not turning on properly at every boot, have to reconnect cables until they actually show something)
Upgraded from 22.04 to 24.04. Now stuck on a loading screen for 22.04?
I did as the title says. After the update, I landed on a loading screen for 22.04. I thought it was part of the update process, but it seemed strange that the version wasn't correct. Is this normal?
The loading screen is all gray, with pop os version 22.04 written on it. There are 4 small dots underneeth the text that change colours from time to time.
How to find/format second hard drive after install?
I recently made the jump on installing Linux/Pop OS on my main streaming and gaming laptop for the first time.
The laptop has two hard drives, with linux being installed on the smaller SSD. I've backed up all of my data before the install, so that's not a worry. I'm just interested in having access to the 1TB HD.
Thank you in advance!
