Flock of scissors

From the recent Tom Scott upload I learned a group of ferrets are called "a business". We need more silly names to refer to multiple items. The layered parody of a pair of a pair of scissors is indeed tickling my silly bone.

Valve prices the Steam Machine at $1,049

For context, DRAM/Silicone situation stemming from the massive bulk orders for building data centers and training AI has led to hardware prices absolutely exploding. Valve released the Steam Machine with a hefty $1049 pricetag and thats not even big premium compared to buying all the parts yourself. The destruction of ownership has never been more apparent than now.

The ogligarchs found a way to make people pay to become stupider whilst simultaneously reducing our capabilities to be self-sufficient and improving their wages by making us be content with less.

Short breadown, AI reduces our capability of critical thinking. Instead of researcing a topic the kids just reach for CHATGPT today. This is being done while simultaneously making search engines more and more garbage, attempting to make AI the new search engine norm. This is bad for a myriad of reasons but I think its mainly because censorship and narrative control is easier to exploit with an LLM than a search engine.

Somehow they made us pay for this. Yet another "service" we do not own and are being set up to pay for recurringly.

The massive amount of hardware required for the expansion of AI also plummeted the hardware market for consumers. Also very effective way to ensure no one owns their own computer, since they cant afford it. This being done whilst corporations like Google, NVIDIA and NZXT has already tried to create "rental computers" really drives home the point that they dont want you to own it. Its of course great for them to not have any responsabilites for their products, warranties or reliabilities.

On top of all this we become stupider in the process, compliant and most effectively less "sought after" on the job market, making us cheaper for labour. Its a great circle. Truly the CEO mindset. Only the filthiest of trillionaires could find a way to profit of literally every step of the process.

Google has a price for you. We found it.

This feels like a good post to mention AdNauseam! For anyone who wants an adblocker that helps more than just you! It basically blocks ads but also sends a click request to every ad that should have been loaded. The data being sent with this request contains spoofed garbage data that makes the tracking data sets lose value. It also keeps a funny metric on how much the estimated cost for your clicks is :)

Nintendo is suing the creators of Switch emulator Yuzu

Typical Nintendo move. So sad to see Yuzu possibly going down this way. Even looks like Nintendo might win this one. I'm just gonna download the entire source from GitHub just in case.

I wish this would just go full hydra mode if it goes down though. Start popping up new anonymous accounts releasing the source code everywhere.

Where are the #FreeTheHostages people now?

Reply in thread

Braindead comment. Literally this is what they expected. Either they get media publicity showing how Israel is transgressing and commiting crimes on international water or they get to Gaza and can help people there. Even if they didnt bring a cruiser cargo of supplies they can still actively help the situation there.

They risk their lives fully aware of what the outcomes are and you are incapable of even thinking a singular action ahead - baffling.

Microsoft punishes idiots who purchased a "perpetual" license of Office 2019 for Mac by disabling it next month, pirates unaffected

Victim-blaming is the real stupidity here. Microsoft harasses its customers (again) and now the customers are the idiots?

This is the same type of propaganda Nvidia is trying to push. Jensen Huang saying "people should have planned better, the rising prices of hardware was imminent" is the exact same tactic of being the cause of the problem and still putting the blame of everyone else.
