‘Make It So’: ‘Star Trek’ and Its Debt to Revolutionary Socialism

Beginning in 1966, the plot of “Star Trek” closely followed Posadas’s propositions. After a nuclear third world war (which Posadas also believed would lead to socialist revolution), Vulcan aliens visit Earth, welcoming them into a galactic federation and delivering replicator technology that would abolish scarcity. Humans soon unify as a species, formally abolishing money and all hierarchies of race, gender and class.

I know they likely realize something is up....

I hold a differing viewpoint

Lemmygrad, like any community centered around a particular political ideology, faces challenges in maintaining effective moderation. However, it is evident that they are making concerted efforts to moderate their platform and proactively address instances of bigotry. This aligns with the approach we adopt within our own community.

Lemmygrad enforces a comprehensive set of rules that explicitly prohibit various forms of bigotry, including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, and xenophobia. Furthermore, they have implemented measures to prevent and remove content that falls under the category of pornographic or sexually explicit material, even if it is labeled as not safe for work. Additionally, Lemmygrad explicitly disallows the propagation of dangerous Nazi ideologies, such as right-deviationist factions like patsocs, nazbols, strasserists, duginists, and similar groups.

While Lemmygrad operates as a socialist instance with a specific ideological focus, it is important to recognize that the community is not a monolithic entity. Within Lemmygrad, there are individuals who engage in discussions that encompass differing perspectives, including those who acknowledge and do not deny certain historical events.

While political disagreements may exist, it is evident that Lemmygrad is dedicated to ensuring an inclusive and respectful environment by actively moderating their platform and taking measures to prevent and remove instances of bigotry. Similarly, we strive to foster such an atmosphere within our own instance.

Windows issues?

This is a requested feature that I am sure the devs will address eventually. Although based on their recent feedback they are focusing on stability and optimization to handle the spike in people at the moment. What I personally have done is set my feed to “subscribed” only. This allows you much more control of which communities you see. However I do see how individually blocking instances would be nice in the future.

Both memmy and mlem have been great in their own ways thus far. Both are in testflight and getting regular updates, in addition to the news about sync there is also news about another new one called artemis that is aiming to be apollo styled.

Jellyfin's the way to go IMO, screw Plex and their constant BS.

They do want to refederate when we get some better moderation tools. It would be cool if we had a list of the tools they need the most in order to refederate as I’m sure some in the community would be more motivated to make those tools if they new the priorities.
