Pardon me for not finding “vulnerable people need to die for my ideology” very convincing.
I guess I’ll say it for the record but Kris Mayes is a woman.

Max users grandfathered into $15.99 ad-free plan lose 4K, HDR next month
It is really grandfathered if you only get to keep the price and not the features?

That definitely opened my eyes. Also, a lot of rich people lost their minds during COVID because they were briefly treated like the rest of us.

Linux way way slower than Windows?
Since you mentioned high cpu temps, do you have a water cooler? It’s possible that the pump is running at a reduced speed or not at all. If it was functioning fine on windows that leads me to believe that it’s not hardware related like some are suggesting.

I don’t understand why he won’t just own up to the wrong gpu thing and move on. It’s like getting pissy that the f150 exhaust sounds like shit on your ford ranger.

The amount of loading screens and forced cutscenes was just painful. I was so thankful for the gamepass trial because I would have been so upset if I bought this game.

Helldivers 2 has now received 84,000 negative reviews in the past day.

The game had a requirement to link your PlayStation Network account to your steam account but it has been disabled due to server issues. Now Sony wants the dev to enforce that and people feel like they have been bait and switched. Another issue is that many people who have already bought the game live in areas of the world where Playstation Network is unsupported so they couldn’t link an account if they wanted to.

I hate to break it to you but it’s not just the budget dells that have build quality issues. I just received a $5k precision that was delivered with fucked up bios settings, non working thunderbolt ports and a trackpad stuck in the down position. I love the laptop but god damn that was frustrating.

I really like this one but it just doesn’t have enough ammo. It’s really frustrating when it dumps everything it has into an armored enemy also. It would be nice to have the ability to prioritize small or medium enemies.

The "safest" way of self hosting
I’m not expert but for the sake of getting some discussion going:
Don’t open ports on your router to expose services to the open internet.
Use a vpn when torrenting and make sure your torrent client is set to only use the vpn’s network adapter. This way, if your vpn drops out the torrent client can’t reach the internet.
I keep everything local and use Tailscale to access things while I’m away from home.

I need to scream into the void
I grew up in a small town so I know how absolute shit they can be. I didn’t live in the town that I went to school in and I was treated like an outsider for the entire time that I was there. Getting out was one of the best things I’ve ever done and I hope you can too. Do your best to ignore the shitheads. The drama becomes an addiction for them because these small towns have nothing else to offer.

Mouse recommendations, anyone?
I use the Mx master for work and it’s great. Can be used wired or wireless, 2.4ghz dongle or Bluetooth, and has a regular scroll wheel plus a thumb scroll. The regular scroll has a button to switch between individual steps or free spinning and you can also set it to free spin when flicked hard enough while in step mode. I regularly deal with 500-1500 page PDFs so being able to just flick a hundred pages or so is nice.

Explorers playing soccer on the ice in Antarctica, 1915?
This is from Shackleton’s 1914-1916 expedition. There’s a really good book called Endurance if anyone wants to know more about this insane story.

I have a little experience with Microsoft’s intune and there are different ways to register devices. Someone feel free to correct me because I don’t feel like logging in to double check. Company owned devices have more control and can restrict apps, lock, full wipe, etc. Personal or “bring your own” devices are much less restricted. I can’t lock, wipe, or restrict apps. For the personal devices, it’s more about giving secure access to the companies resources and not really controlling the device. I work for a small business and only use this to setup access to non important documents for employees in the field so I know just enough to be dangerous.

Hardware recommendations for building a good Linux gaming rig?
I can’t help with the Linux specific part but you can check logical increments to get a feel for your budget and adjust from there.
