Every Canadian and European fedi community right now

As an American I think I'm going insane? The last 3 weeks have been some of the most anxious and stressed I've ever been.

Trump's first term was nothing like this, there's a feeling of apathy in the air among people and coworkers (I live in a very liberal city in the deep south). Folks around here just seem to be on edge at all times, whether you're pro or anti in a much more divisive way.

There's a strange feeling knowing there's a solid chance we won't make it out of this one. There have been plenty of times in the past where we've had doom and gloom (Trump v1, conservatives and Obama), etc. Nothing ever happens, but this time I'm fairly confident the country I was born into will be dead and gone given the shear destruction being waged against our institutions.

I'm protesting and will continue to do what is needed to ensure 47 isn't the final chapter.

Terrified friends burn to death trapped in Tesla as doors won't open after crash

There are manual releases but they're hidden. They need to be more obvious because these cars are rented to people and obviously the owners aren't taking the time to figure out where they're at.

I would also think just having secondary power packs in each door would help in the event power is cut to ensure the doors can continue to function for a few minutes while also a speaker could explain how to use the emergency release if none of the doors are working.

All this added complexity and cost isn't worth it to me, manual doors just make sense for so many reasons.

I fear it's too late. Unless the party can be taken by force it won't be enough and we only have 4 years. If dems didn't snub Bernie this all probably wouldn't have happened. Our choices used to be two flavors of corporate fascism, now it's far right vs corporate. Dems are better on social issues, but it's not enough.

I will judge, and I will not forget

This is the third fucking time Democrats have run with an establishment candidate.

I voted Harris but I knew she was a shit candidate and not who we needed to go against Trump. She couldn't even primary ffs.

The DNC is squarely to blame, every time people blame the voters and nothing fucking changes. You can't keep putting up generic neocon establishment hand-picked candidates and expect turnout.

Yeah I agree, but we dont really live in that society anymore. All attempts at reform are sidelined and corporate interests are put over our own constantly. I don't like it either, but people have a breaking point and they can only take so much. If we had a stronger aca that wasn't gutted by industry maybe there wouldn't have been motive here.

I hope it's not maggie

The writing has been on the wall since the ACA got rewritten by these same companies. Instead of reforming the system to making it more fair these corporations were prioritized over us and our health.

There is no path to justice, all the evil shit they do has been deemed lawful, so it's not like a lawsuit will do anything and it's certainly not going to change anything for anyone else.

And now with the incoming administration teasing to remove even the smallest of teeth from the aca, it really does feel hopeless. The government is protecting profit over people and I'm surprised it took so long for somebody to finally snap. In an ideal society we would have reforms before stuff like this started happening

well at least the cycle has stopped

Yup. They fucked us royally and I'm sort of waiting to see if people organize around this. The DNC needs to go. They've known about Trump since 16 and this is the campaign they run? They're trying to elect him at this point, I don't know what else to think.

Democrats: here's a rock and two nickels

Republicans: here's everything you've ever wanted and all the libertarian shit you used to jerk off to.

Liberals after the election: how did we lose??

Do EV's actually do anything beneficial for the planet?

Another point is that cars, car infrastructure, and car oriented development is one of the single most wasteful ways to use land. Building smarter cities with alternative transit systems, mixed use areas, and actually using all 3 dimensions like many newer cities in China could protect so much habitat from needlessly being destroyed. There's hardly any truly wild land left on the east coast, it's hard to tell what things used to look like now that practically everything is covered in suburbs and strip malls.

Do Something

They won't. They are going to hand the keys to the next admin, as is decorum. They do things by the book and maintain tradition. This party at every opportunity shows how completely inept they are.

They've abandoned us.

Iraq War was preceded by the largest worldwide non-violent protests in history and the war happened anyway.

This last election made me into an anarchist for now. I do not believe there is any way to salvage this system we have in any meaningful way. I'm not a violent person so I can't see myself doing anything like Luigi, but Democrats aren't going to save anyone and are just one part of the problem.

I think Donald could be the death blow to our country as more and more of our social contract is upended, especially with talks of killing the ACA and other popular programs.
