Not in any way defending terfs, however: lightening your hair is NOT cheap and just because your roots are showing (natural color is growing out) doesn't mean you had a cheap service done. It just means it's time for another one.

Regardless, we shouldn't be attacking people for their physical appearance, even if they're terrible people. Being pretty is not the rent women pay to exist in the world, and failing to live up to your standards of beauty is not a moral failing. That includes hair and makeup and body modification (Botox, piercings, tattoos) choices.

Edit: also Botox ≠ lip filler. (Sorry I can't help myself lol)

QA does stuff

Reply in thread

Hey, I work in QA (not in the video game field though.) However, I can tell you there is a difference between "QA missed" and "deadlines required prioritizing other fixes."

One implies that the employees are bad at their job. Which is almost certainly not the case. I haven't played Starfield (or even clicked through to your link lol) but presumably this is something blatantly obvious. And I'm sure the QA team was frustrated letting a glaring known issue through.

QA finds issues but it's up to development teams to fix them, and strict deadlines will always hamper delivering a flawless product. But deadlines are driven by management and until the industry changes (i.e. don't preorder games) we're going to keep seeing these problems.

But as a QA professional, please don't blame us ✌️

What is the worst customer service experience you've ever had?

So I work in QA. I know how to troubleshoot things, it's literally my job.

Recently my game card for Zelda TOTK kicked the bucket, so I tried contacting Nintendo support.

Again, I work in QA. So I made sure my Switch software was up to date and reported in the beginning to Support that I had done this and told them the version number.

First they ask me to check for a software update. 😐 It gets worse from there.

After copying and pasting several different sets of troubleshooting steps to me (all of which unnecessarily started off with checking for a system update) the Support agent eventually finds out I'm using an SD Card for external memory on my switch.

So I turn off the Switch, take out the SD Card, reboot the switch, and still the game will not launch. I report this to Nintendo Support. Who then tell me that I need to reformat my SD Card.

My brother in Christ, if I am still hitting the issue, without the SD Card in use, then reformatting the SD Card will do literally nothing to help.

Complete waste of my time. I closed the chat and went to Target, who happily let me exchange for another copy of the game that functioned again.

Microsoft Edge is actually good lmao

This is hilarious.

My husband runs our Lemmy instance, and he's subscribed to the Linux community, which is one of the most active on Lemmy (I probably don't need to tell you that.) I'm basically just here for memes and I ultimately blocked the Linux community because it was all over my feed. I'm a normie and I just don't care about Linux whatsoever, not enough for every other post to be about it anyway.

What is the most stable food production method?

This reads like a Rimworld post.

I don't think there's a Rimworld community on Lemmy and I'm not going on Reddit anymore so I'll just throw this comment into the void and hope some fans are out there. 👋

Also in Rimworld terms the answer is corn (if monoculture) and send everyone to harvest at the first sign of blight.

But in both Rimworld and real life, a monoculture strategy isn't sustainable. Diversifying via multiple food sources reduces your risk of disaster leading to starvation.

For those taking generic Adderall made by "Granules Pharmeceuticals"...

WOAAAHHH.

After being unable to source my Adderall for months I finally got it refilled. The same dose I've been taking for 20+ years. For some reason my body could not handle it, I was getting headaches and my pulse was racing and I was anxious. Which didn't make sense because I've previously had years without taking it and did not see these issues ever before (but I'm older now? Idk)

Anyway I asked for a dose change and we decreased by 5mg. Been better since.

Just looked at my bottle and the stuff I couldn't handle is made by Granules. 😮

[OC] Karlatornet

I'm obsessed with this photo. I love all the subtle changes in the colors of the reflections on the windows.

Were you just in the right place at the right time, or were you specifically trying to capture this?

What is your cat's name, and what stupid nicknames do you call them?

Scout

Who 99% of the time is Scooty.

She's occasionally called: Scootybutt, Scooterella, Scoots, Scootyscoots*, Scuttles, Scuttlebutt, Scoutster (only ever used by my mom lol), Scootypuff Senior (a la Futurama, but she's too old to be Junior. Scooty is 12.)

(*Edit: I should add that when using this one, it's always pronounced as "ScootySCOOOOOOOOOOOTS" in imitation of our friend who coined this while drunk.)

We pretty much only call her Scout at the vet

I'll add a picture when I get another break from work

Edit: pic tax

Looking guilty after I caught her licking a plastic bag

Asking for attention/if she can steal my chocolate croissant

"Helping" me work from home

I think the joke is that it doesn't say anything. All of us squinting trying to read it anyway... we are the joke 😂

A Thank You to this Community (and another question!)

Fixed cats live longer. Spaying decreases the likelihood of cats developing certain types of cancers.

Friends of mine literally last week had to put their cat down because she developed breast cancer and rapidly deteriorated (we're talking painful skin ulcers here.) If the cat had been spayed at a young age, she would likely still be here.

And as others have said, spaying is the wise choice in case she were ever to accidentally get outside.

Man shows the health of his hair and scalp after not using any shampoo for 7 years

So admittedly I haven't watched the video.

But it sounds like this guy has a sensitivity to SLS - Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It's a cleaning agent in a lot of shampoos that can lead to skin dryness and irritation - aka it can cause dandruff.

Cutting out that chemical by not shampooing anymore would help... but also these days most (more expensive) shampoos have dropped SLS as an ingredient because it's a skin irritant for most people. So he probably could have just switched to a different shampoo.

If I remember correctly, SLS contributes to a good lather: the shampoo getting foamy so it's easy to spread around your whole head/all your hair if it's long. So SLS-free shampoos are a bit less foamy. My hairdresser recommended that, on wash days, I shampoo twice with my SLS-free shampoo to get a more thorough clean. However, I do not wash daily; I wash my hair every 3-5 days depending on how much I've exercised and whether I'm home or in the office on days 4/5.
