Seen on reddit: Ran out of advertisers. Why? Yes.
We should all club together and get some ads for the fediverse on there.

The end of Reddit? Why the blackout is still going – and what happens next
Reply in thread
Absolutely, even without all the reddit drama a decentralised version clearly seems to be the smartest way to go. Reddit is it's community and I think the ceo lost sight of that.

It's far from pointless, these large companies hire psychologists to help them with the layouts of their shops. They tend to move staples around so people have to look around for them increasing the chances they'll spot something they don't need but will buybon an impulse. I used to work for one of the largest supermarket chains in the uk, they have an empty store that they use just for planning the layout of goods. Alot of time and money goes into these decisions.

Apparently the fediverse has grown by 500,000 users since last month. That's alot of people, hopefully the word continues to spread and the user base keeps growing.

The fact that we're here means it's not a failure. Have you seen the stats on fediverse growth over the past few weeks?
The total apathy and pessimism I see on reddit is crazy, let's keep it over there.

I've been posting about lemmy in r/modtools and a couple of the niche subreddits I follow that didn't shut down. I'll be sticking with lemmy no matter what happens over at reddit, the people in charge over there have shown utter contempt for the users and moderators.

Every time spez speaks, I want to interact less and less with reddit
He's trying to drive a wedge between mods and users, it's disgusting behaviour.

If we want this to work out make content do not just lurk

I lurked reddit for years before I made my first comment. Some of the larger subreddits still feel so hostile I rarely posted on them. Enjoying the feel of this place though.

Did the reddit hivemind do a 180 or are the people left behind just the people who don't care.

I would have thought most people would be using an app. Most people access the Internet through their phone.

I didn't even think of that, even so many askreddit posts are tagged nsfw.

Yes, whatever happens in the other place I'll be staying here.
