What password manager do you recommend?

One more point on Bitwarden - when the top password managers were being hacked/exploited, Bitwarden was keen to fix what appeared to be vulnerabilities in an extremely timely manner. I don't remember where I read the article but it still fared best out of all the other managers out there.

It may have been ars technica, I don't remember.

*Permanently Deleted*

I wouldn't say I despise them, but the other negative emotion I have is feeling depressed at having been a burden that they decided they wanted, of their own free will, to help me. I hate it, it's so backward. It becomes a spiral of feeling melancholic for no reason and it just becomes a depression feedback loop.

How do you track your personal budget?

Used to use gnucash on Linux desktop for a goooood long while. I wanted nicer reports so I shopped around with homebank (one developer so slow development but very nice project!) and tried money dance (didn't like it, though I tried really hard). Eventually tried my own spreadsheets and apsire budget but finally settled on YNAB because I need a hands-off approach as I'm so busy.

I reconcile accounts every few days and auto-sync my banks with plaid (YMMV on how much you're into that) and it works for me. I'm happy paying the subscription but if it ever goes to US$150/yr I'm probably going to quit it.

UK here, 'year of 2022'. My school which is bulldozed now to make way for a trendy 'academy', was pushing the America style graduation in year 11 (non UK context - the last year of high school. We usually didn't "graduate' at the end of the final school year, you would just get your certificates and go join the workforce at 16, or attend optional further education)

We had a prom, to which I did not go. It was all very cringey to me. Kids in my school were already throwing house parties and getting drunk. Why would they need a soft-drink fuelled school disco? A lot of my year didn't attend. We also had that school's first ever yearbook. Not sure if it continued.

It's probably more ubiquitous now.

Best Piano Practice App for Custom Sheet Music with Midi support

You should be able to export MuseScore to .mid, and then you can import your midi into Synthesia, which supports either or both MIDI Input and Output.

You can then opt to view the score on the screen as well as the "falling notes".

I use it with my Yamaha DGX series piano, and synthesia controls my piano's output, while my piano controls what keys are 'pushed' in Synthesia.

It's awesome. So glad I purchased a lifetime license for it about 10 years ago or more.

TV & Tunes Tuesday

The prompt in this post reminds me of Jesse from The Fast Show (Mark Williams)

"This week, I have mostly been..."

So for the rest of this week i will mostly be bingeing every episode of the fast show on BBC iPlayer since I'm told they're not expiring for another two more years.

And then after the final Fast Show I'll probably watch the anniversary special. Whitehouse's Rowley Birkin QC is phenomenal in the sketch where he's recounting a story of his youth without presently being drunk. Incredibly delivered and written in a poignant way that only British comedy seems able to achieve; à la Blackadder Goes Over The Top/Goodbyeee.

Edit: this is the one. https://youtu.be/QlZFfXAUr2I
