'Hate will never prevail.' Local residents confront group displaying swastika flags on I-75 overpass

"No arrests were made"

Because half the people in the U-Haul were probably co-workers.

It baffles me that in this day in 2025, with hundreds of data points being reported hourly, that we can't look at the obvious preferential treatment fascists get from their cop buddies. Had that been a Free Palestine protest and some racist nutjob showed up to harrass them, the cops would have cleared the bridge and arrested a handful of the protestors, MAYBE one of the nutjobs IF they were REALLY pushing it. Then they'd find a reason why that bridge can't be used for protesting, release the nutjob with a "stern" warning and rake all the protestors across the coals with any minor "disturbing the peace" type charges so they have a record for next time.

Bryan Cranston Addresses ‘Lone Wolf’ Troubles, Vows Not To Film Or Promote Movie “Until Every Cast And Crew Member Is Paid Back In Full”

Reply in thread

Why should an employee give up some of their wages temporarily to other employees? Let's pretend he decides to do that. Now everyone but him is paid. So is he supposed to go into work and work for free until the producers can gather the money for him? Or stay home until he gets paid? Because the first one isn't acceptable and the second is what he is doing but with extra steps (and who knows what sort of tax implications)

That's literally not his job. He is being a good brother to his fellow workers and standing with them until they get paid. If he wanted producer credits he could go negotiate for them now and then the production could use his money, but again: not his job.

Cranston is doing the right thing. Just because he is a very well paid employee doesn't mean he should be expected to 'bend' the rules so Producers can make their movies. Any number of the producers are actually in a position to do exactly what you are asking of Cranston. That IS their job.

Only 1% of EV Drivers Would Go Back to a Gas Car*

I'm on both sides of this. Had an EV for nearly 4 years and had to go back to gas for work (construction, moving/having tools, materials and supplies).

I cannot wait for an affordable small ev pickup. Even a not that affordable one. I just can't do $100k for an oversized monster like the Lightning. But give me a $60k Ranger/Frontier style (basically the smallest truck they make these days, without a full SUV on the front) and 500km range and I'm in.

I hate getting gas. I hate it so much.

The US healthcare system is broken...

Reply in thread

  • this is the argument *

This is exactly NOT what will happen.

I'm assuming that was your intention OP, but just in case:

What will happen is private sector clinics/practices/ect will be able to pay more than public, because they can charge whatever they want, so all the talented nurses/doctors ect will vacate the public sector for private, leaving public understaffed and underfunded even more than it is now. Then some shit government will point at the anemic public system they let suffer and say "it doesn't make sense to keep this thing alive" and take it out back and shoot it. Then we turn into the states.

The rich get better care (which they can already get with a quick plane ticket if they can't wait) everyone else gets $300 cream.

It's f-ing ridiculous that anyone believes for profit healthcare would (note I believe they COULD, they just are designed not to) provide better care than a unified public service that wasn't being slowly chipped away to make room for profiteering.

US tech CEO resigns after Coldplay concert embrace goes viral

Reply in thread

I've seen this response a ton and I think that's exactly correct, but I can't imagine the anxiety in the hours, day and weeks after. Just waiting and wondering if anyone recognised you, if anyone had a recording/proof. Then after a few months under the radar I might not be a complete train wreck.

But then what if Coldplay puts out a Netflix special or something, then I'd have to wait and wait until it came out and then watch it and see if that moment makes it into the recording... And if it does? Now I'm just waiting for some random friend of a friend to watch it and go "hang on..."

I think I'd rather this timeline, if I was that idot.

Probably why I'd never cheat on my partner, especially at a huge public gathering, when the person I'm cheating with is an employee and I'm the fucking CEO and could lose my job over it.

Thankfully this man will certainly continue to fail up, and as soon as this news quiets down he'll get hired by some other goon just like him to some other lucrative job where you just have to be an asshole a few times a week and otherwise the money will roll right in.

What's the appropriate response to "What's up?"

"Not much. You?" If you don't have much going on.

"Not much, just finishing up this essay before I head to soccer." If you are doing something that might interest the person asking, or to explain your presence somewhere you aren't usually.

The person is just checking in with you. It's basically "hello"

Trump announces 100% tariffs on movies ‘produced in foreign lands’

Canadian working in film over here. All our bosses fly in from the states, the company is American (usually with a temporary Canadian corporation underneath that will dissolve after the project) and half the actors and art talent are from the states.

And to address the propaganda angle, we are usually telling American stories anyways. Right now I'm working on a show about Muhammad Ali.... All the set dressing is American...

But I did sneak some Roberson screws into a set. So hopefully the word gets out to the American people. You don't have to live under the tyrant Phillips, we have a better way.

It's not the cheating. It's the "porking your HR lady" part that's a problem for companies who dont want to get sued.

I haven't read to many articles on the matter but for all we know hr lady does not like him at all but wanted to keep/get that job and now she is stuck in an abusive relationship. Can't share with her partner cause yeah... And can't get HR to step in cause... Yeah.

No evidence that is the case but that's why we should fire CEOs who date their underlings. You are right we should absolutely not be firing people for not abiding a religious/social contract that has nothing to do with their job.

Why Does Poilievre Keep Saying the Nazis Were Socialists?

Fellow below got down votes for saying it, but it's because they called themselves that.

Just like how Trump currently accuses mainstream media of lying non-stop. Like he accused the Democrats of trying to steal the election. Both things that he does/did, and that the people who he accused of doing it did not do. See how easy it is to muddy the water?

It's the same reason every draconian handmaid's tale esque bill is called "the helping mothers" bill or every anti-workers bill "the great perfect bill to help workers" bill. (Right to work!)

It's a load of crap. Listen to what people tell you. Then compare it to what they actually do. Or if you are too lazy even to do that, just ignore what anyone says and only look at what they do. That's who they are.

Watch what Pollieve does. Look at what he has already done. That's it. That's who he is. It's a little cheat code you can use.
