I love that perspective, so true. It even goes the other way, YOU could be a literal child posting such a thought-provoking comment, we'll never know.

Google having their own proprietary crap embedded in their version doesnt make AOSP not FOSS.
Thats the entirety of the basis for things like GrapheneOS, despite Google gobbling it up.

The truth about VPNs?
The thing with VPN's is that you're only shifting the trust from your ISP to your VPN provider. That provider can still see pretty much everything you're doing and your real IP, if they wanted to. To add to this, plenty of VPN companies have been found logging when they said they didn't. I would say either set up traffic for I2P, or simply go with an actually no logs VPN company like Mullvad, who's been battle tested and doesn't log, and you'll be fine.
People also say that because it's important to understand what a VPN is and does as well. It wasn't originally meant to be any sort of anonymity tool, the technology exists to make it seem as if your traffic is coming from somewhere else - which allows for things like remote work on a local network.

Bethesda Quietly Removes Denuvo DRM from Ghostwire: Tokyo

Plastering it all over social media, I guess.
But honestly the word "quietly" being anywhere in any article's title or anything has become the biggest red flag for just click baiting the piss out of something. I almost always take the title and throw it out the window after I see quietly in any title.

A better Revanced
I just bought the FUTO voice input app as well from them and it's genuinely amazing. It has punctuation where it needs to. It cuts out all the UM's. And the best part is, I don't have to pretend that I'm talking to a robot. I can just speak as if I'm talking to a normal person and it gets it right nearly every single time. It is so worth the $5.
This entire comment was typed with it, and I did not edit a single thing.

Infinity just came out, and its what I used for reddit for forever. Someone forked it and made it for lemmy and it's awesome!

Is Half-Life Opposing Force still known to current gamers, or is this a side game that's fallen through the cracks.
Seeing the different perspectives of the same timeline was super super cool to me. loved being able to see Gordon on the cameras haha.

The problem is that GrapheneOS really, truly, actually is the only way to get even reasonable levels of privacy on a mobile device right now.
That sounds so much like a shill statement, and it seems that way from others too I'm sure. But its true. If you understand anything at all that happens under the hood of an operating system and android in general, GrapheneOS is the ONLY option for actual privacy and security. And the unfortunate part, is that only Pixels are supported by this.

Windows has a lot of bloatware dependencies
My biggest issue with windows is it not telling you the exact reason for some weird behavior, and then making it intentionally difficult to go in and modify/fix it yourself.
Linux might break more often, but when it does I've ALWAYS been able to recover or restore it far far easier than I ever could on a windows machine, partially due to the actually helpful error messages.

HELP I used psa.wf which is reccomended on lemmy piracy sub and i think i have got an unnistallable virus that doesn't show up in settings should i wipe down ?
Honestly IMO if you have even an inkling that you've been got by a virus, nuking from orbit is the only solution.

Isn't this one of the reasons the force is practically required to use a lightsaber? Just so you have perfect control at all times and do not cut yourself in two.
I suppose grievous is an exception, though an argument can be made that him being mostly mechanical allows him to not kill himself.

I agree that's an important aspect of open source, but for me personally it's more about being able to audit what is running on my machine. the fact that they show you the code lets me see and confirm for myself that they aren't doing anything shady like spying. Though it might not be good enough for some people it definitely is for me.
It's a level of transparency you won't ever get from truly "proprietary" software.
