What is the origin of "fuck you" use as a insult?

Reply in thread

Off the top of my head, Dutch has pretty disease-centric profanity, and Quebec French has the sacres, which are basically just things found in a church.

I mean, sex is a very common subject, and OP was probably right that (a translation of) that exact phrase occurs from time to time all the way back, but it's far from a constant.

The word itself is ancient, and cognates in other European languages are used the same way. To go outside the region and language family, the Chinese version is "fuck your mother".

Sex is a common topic of profanity around the world, and the way things are referenced in a set expression often won't make literal sense. So in other words, it's probably a phrase that's appeared over and over again since we evolved.

Iranian star Parastoo Ahmadi sentenced to 74 lashes for singing without hijab

Yep. All of the sudden, the "great satan" stuff seems a lot more credible, and anybody who was calling for detente with the West looks really foolish.

On the other hand, there's a lot of fresh faces at the top of the hierarchy now. Maybe gradual reform will be more possible, whenever this chapter of history ends. For now, 74 lashes for the celebrity, so nobody forgets who makes the rules.

Fake money for criminals is unironically a decent addition to the world, although it's coded in a really dumb way. Plagiarism machine is overhyped right now, but it also has some legit uses.

So, the poll actually seems about right.

Junior Dev VS Machine Learning

Agreed. If you need to calculate rectangles ML is not the right tool. Now do the comparison for an image identifying program.

If anyone's looking for the magic dividing line, ML is a very inefficient way to do anything; but, it doesn't require us to actually solve the problem, just have a bunch of examples. For very hard but commonplace problems this is still revolutionary.
