A true legend
She also donated a million dollars to COVID vaccine research early in the pandemic, and the Moderna COVID vaccine was developed thanks in part to that.

She once said that her favourite thing to do with her husband was to take off in a little trailer they had and go find some place in some corner of Tennessee to camp out in for a weekend.

20 years ago things weren’t so shit
I'm not a tech person, and I truly enjoy my phone, but the only smart device I've ever had was a puppy cam I've gotten rid of and a convection oven you can turn on with an app, which I don't have on my phone. My car is a newer model and has Android Auto and I do not use it at all. I have never voluntarily used AI beyond having it forced upon me by companies. Zero interest.

I love someone who can be structured in poetry and really succeed at it. It's very disciplined.
Alternately I mostly hate when poets only use lower case other than e.e. cummings, I think it's a lazy way to make an effect 99% of the time.

Tech workers react to UPS drivers landing a $170,000 a year package with a mixture of anger and admiration
The amount of shit a delivery driver puts up with? They certainly deserve it. Good on them, we should all be well paid, and thinking otherwise is Stockholm syndrome.

Alex Jones spent over $93,000 in July. Sandy Hook families who sued him have yet to see a dime
How is this not enforced by the court that ordered it? It should be 30 days and you end up in prison.

Has the Reddit exodus killed the former Lemmy culture?
I came to Lemmy from reddit and I find it an incredibly nice place to be, full of polite discussions and fun posts. I haven't seen any of what you're saying.

Picture conservative white southern men who never got their GED trying to frantically Google what a VPN is, because they're missing their interracial porn before the Klan meeting that night.

Amazon Anti Union propaganda
My union dues last pay? 30 dollars. My union just got the government of Ontario, the shitbag conservatives, who tried to illegally withhold raises from us, and won. My union guarantees I get a set wage because they bargain for it.

Someone is pearl clutching at me on Bluesky for saying how delighted I am, and saying how this guy has a family. Well so so the people he denies health care to, especially this kid.

I would wonder.

Nobody says "what about their kids" when a poor single parent stealing food to live ends up in jail and their kids in foster care.

This man is an antivaxxer and helped kill his wife by forcing her not to get vaccinated.

By bombarding her with antivaxxer propaganda and threatening her with divorce if she got it sadly.
Grown or not, some people are very much under their spouse's control because of money and other vulnerability.

My workplace just went back to masking because it's already kicking off to be a banger of a respiratory illness season. I'll use whatever I can to remind people it's not just about your comfort.

Sovereign citizen Facebook is full of people trying to send magic paperwork to companies to pay their debt and they never understand why it doesn't work.

Back in mandatory masking days of COVID, one of them posted that he tried to shop in a store without a mask (they hate masks and literally think it's against their religion), and was refused service so he just decided to shoplift instead, and came on the sovcit group asking for the law that said if money was refused that meant it was free. I have never laughed so hard.
