I'd be surprised if there is a serious language that doesn't come with at least some semi-official style guide. But usually they are not universally followed and everybody just does their own thing.

Just to clarify: selling this fake carbonara is fine, I'm even sure it tastes fine. But calling it carbonara (without weasel-words like carbonara-style or some such) absolutely is a problem.

In my country (which is not Italy) the popular variant is making it with whipped cream, which again, tastes fine, but it's not carbonara, but many restaurants have the fake carbonara on their menu labeled as normal carbonara, which totally sucks. And shit like these glasses with fake carbonara just makes this worse.

Labeling for food is protected in Europe for this exact reason. It's done for lots of food from parmesan to champagne.

It's not just that characters make stupid decisions, the same characters keep making the same mistakes and nobody ever learns from those mistakes or grows as a character. It's so extremely frustrating.

You're not gonna like this but, some unique tech that makes a game look 5% better isn't making the experience better than access to mods, or being able to play 30 years old games on the same machine as a new game, or being able to play on mouse+keyboard. Especially considering games that "exploit the PS5 capabilities" tend to be formulaic AAA games featuring gameplay mechanics that got boring 2 decades ago.

Easy to make? Have you worked with JavaScript before? It's an absolute mess and full of footguns.

And I assume your project doesn't use async code for shits and giggles? Async code is just as hard in JavaScript except that everything is single threaded anyway.

And even assuming that it really is easier to make: I'd rather have fewer well made applications than hundreds of crappy ones. Each fucking application having to redistribute a whole ass browser is insane, and they're all slow despite needing massive resources.

Apple can't even be arsed to support games that were released on their own platform like 5 years ago. Why would they suddenly start bothering to support games released for other platforms?

What games are those? In the last 12 months I tried 151 games on Linux. All of them worked, only 6 required tinkering.

Personally I enjoy the complicated character building of Grim Dawn way more than the item hunting. This also means I will play a host of characters and eventually complete item sets and have the resources for crafting after half-completed character number 86. For me the grinding is mostly a test on the efficiency of my build.

Maybe look into Warhammer: Chaosbane. It has a point system that superficialy looks similar to Grim Dawns devotions or Path of Exile, but in reality it's super simple. And while you do collect items, they don't matter as much as in other ARPGs. The flip side is that it's kinda hard to fail because the game is so simple.

Apart from the fact that all things you listed exist in one form or another on GOG, have you considered that there are people that prefer not having all those random bullshit social features in their game store? Stream may be more popular, but getting out of their niche and copying steam will alienate their fans without attracting steam users.

Also fuck the workshop, it's the worst thing that ever happened to modding. It's a total pain in the ass to download and apply a mod that is only available there to any non-steam version. Additionally it produced a generation of gamers that is unable to trouble-shoot even the tiniest problem with the mods they applied.

How do you propose GOG should handle forever support for a nearly endless number of shovelware games? Preservation is more than offering the downloads, the games also need to run on systems people actually have.

As far as I can tell they are fullfilling all their marketing promises by taking charge of updating games when developers stop doing so. I wish they would do that for the Linux versions as well as the windows versions, but it's absolutely better than nothing.

Here's how it works in countries that are not dystopian hellscapes:
You tell your boss "I'll be at the doctor's on Tuesday from 08:30 to about 11:00."
You go to the doctor and pick up a paper from the receptionist when you leave that confirms the hours you were there.
You go back to your job and hand HR the paper, they put the hours into the system. The time you spent at the doctor's office as well as the time you spent going there counts as work time.
This works the same for other things like getting your passport renewed or school events that parents should attend.

If the system in your country is worse in any way you should probably fight to improve it, or get out of there as fast as you can.

Their niche doesn't include humans, even little ones. That makes them more suitable as a pet, even if they are better at killing their prey than dogs.

If only we had the technology that would allow us to compile software into an intermediate language and provide a runtime for a multitude of operating systems, instead of running everything in a fucking browser.
