With all this talk about sync's pricing...
Reply in thread
I installed Sync, threw $16 LJ's way for putting in the work to convert it to work with Lemmy, and then uninstalled lol (commenting from Thunder). I plan on continuing to use FOSS clients for Fediverse stuff, but am happy there's a healthy variety of open and closed source clients for everyone to pick and choose from.

lemm.ee financials (June - August)
I consider lemm.ee my home, and you guys my internet family. @sunaurus on a somewhat personal note, I saw you mention in one of your updates a week or two ago you were getting let go from your job, which coincided with some much needed home repairs. If you haven't landed a new job yet, I'd like to throw some cash your way for personal expenses, and I'm sure others would too. I don't want you working on keeping the instance running smoothly from the coffee shop down the road because your power or internet got turned off. If you're in a rough spot, I kind of like the idea of doing a fund raiser on, let's say 8/18 - 8/19 (UTC) where all one time Github and Ko-Fi contributions get aside for you and your family.

Have you tried Andor yet? It's probably the best series (don't hate me Grogu fans).

Spotify re-invented the radio
If you're using Android, check out xmanager. It's basically a free cracked version of Spotify Premium.

Holy shit, I laughed but felt guilty after.

Spotify’s first US price hike for Premium is coming next week
If you're on Android, search up xManager. It basically lets you install a Premium version of Spotify while having a free account.

Birds are cool.
I got into birding this spring as a hobby, thinking to myself "it's free, you just need to use your eyes and ears", withing a month I bought a $350 pair of binoculars. I've managed to fight off the temptation of a decent camera so far, thankfully. I found a great park at the tail end of spring migration about 10 minutes from my apartment, and the dawn chorus was almost sensory overload, the was so many different species singing and calling. I'm looking forward to what new birds I'll see during this fall migration and especially next spring migration.

To add to this, it can even be as simple as reporting bugs you find, whether that be with the Lemmy code itself or a client you're using.

Bean shitposts becoming popular across the entire Fediverse in just an hour is a live demonstration of how effective decentralization and federation protocols are.
