How is Lemmy supposed to replace Reddit?

I agree with what other people said as well: For me it's not a replacement, it's just a (for me) new way to interact with people with the same interests. How this will happen exactly and into what it will grow, we will see and should keep an open mind.

That being said I definitely try to find equivalents for my old subscribed subreddits, while also creating the ones that I'm missing. But I already learned that there is quite a lot of new stuff to discover, which is quite exciting to be honest.

FoodPorn on Lemmy! Come join us!

Reply in thread

Did you subscribe to the one on lemmy.world? Then it's the same. When I created this community there was no other foodporn community yet on any of the servers (at least I couldn't find any).

It also seems to be growing nicely, we already crossed the 160 subscriber mark (in one day) 🍻

"Laksa" I had in Singapore

Reply in thread

It's a popular dish in Singapore and Malaysia, and also finds its origin in Peranakan cuisine as far as I know. It is a cocunut seafood curry with rice noodles, usually served with fish tofu, shrimps, egg and sometimes fish. It is usually served topped with cockles, laksa leaves and sambal.

While still quite unknown in many western countries (I think), Laksa paste (initial ingredient for making it at home) can be found more and more in Asian stores in the west.

One of my favourite dishes of all time.

Has anybody an idea how to get the thumbnails to work properly?

I the post here it says once using the 'Upload Image' function, that the image will show in the post and as thumbnail. The latter doesn't seem to work for me on Jerboa.

The only way that worked for me so far was to link the uploaded image (via the button) by adding the url as ![](IMAGE_URL) to the body of the post.
