What if I told you...

We should be lauding Elon Musk for dispelling the notion that the wealthy have any inherent superiority to anyone else. He keeps proving it over and over and over.

Thank you Elon, for being yourself and proving, once and for all, that anyone can be a billionaire, all you have to do is benefit from the exploitation of apartheid.

If Trump wins the election, US cities are at risk of military takeovers and mass deportations

I feel like everyone forgot what happened last time.

People in unmarked vans with no identifying patches or badges, just fatigues, grabbing people off the streets at night in the northwest.

Even worse than the official fascists, the unofficial ones who were emboldened to act with impunity, riding into cities and inciting violence. Attempting to run Kamala's bus off the road in 2020 in Texas.

Dems run like they want to lose. Always conceding the arguments of the fascists. Touting the endorsement of monsters like Dick Cheney. The kinds of monsters who made the Republican party what it is today.

If "senior democrats" actually gave a shit about avoiding conflict in the US, they'd actually be fighting for universal voting rights and eliminating FPTP voting.

A 25-Year-Old Is Writing Backdoors Into The Treasury’s $6 Trillion Payment System. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Holy shit lol

I'm more than a decade into my engineering career. Nobody pushes directly to prod on my team, not even me. Everyone gets reviewed and tested.

I read this and cackled in public. Because my god, however bad you think this is, it's way fucking worse. Idk what a reasonable reaction to this is but wow. Just wow. Fucking. Cooked.

Like member how everyone talked about graft in Russia resulting in funds meant for military maintenance being siphoned off the top instead of being used for what it was supposed to be used for? This is like that, except you don't even have to have any excuses or anything, the money just... Disappears.

Edit: Have you ever seen a check from the US Treasury bounce? These fuckers boutta be rubber.

You should be able to see your reflection in it!

I was super precious about all my cast iron for a long time. Then I had a thought watching this "cowboy" YouTuber wash his cast iron with some specialty thing.

"This fucking guy is like pretending to be out on the pasture or whatever. In the actual 1800s, this shit was probably just wiped out, or they used lye soap or something ridiculous! Why the fuck am I being so fucking careful?!?"

Now I do not care, like I've had my shit get rusty, crusty, "overheated", the reality is that it's a big ass chunk of metal! Short of deformation or intentional or extreme neglect (leaving it in the rain uncovered for 40 years) you will not destroy it.

If it gets too "sticky", you oil it up and heat it, and bingo, it's fine again.

Nude in a Hammock in White Carrara marble by Antonio Frilli. How on earth does the physics work here with all that weight in the middle!

Incredible art. Any time I see marble look like cloth, it blows my mind.

As to the physics, the amount of material holding up the hammock is likely much more significant than it appears. Not to say it isn't delicate, I'm sure much side to side movement would break it quite easily, but the vertical strength is probably significantly more than it seems, it's sort of like a bridge with a truck on it...

Leisure Time

The class war has always been going on and if you are reading this you're not on the winning side.

Capital has no delusion as to who its enemies are. But it profits when you don't.

Percentages of british adults who found each activity involving animals acceptable or unacceptable

I used to be very opposed to deer hunting. Until I took a biology course and there was some discussion about how humans have eliminated, or nearly eliminated all their natural predators in the United States.

The way their population ends up being controlled in the absence of those predators is disease, famine, and cars. Unless we hunt them sufficiently in areas where wolves in particular have been eliminated.

If you are hunting and wasting the resources of an animal you've culled, it's absolutely unethical. But if you're using all of the resources you can provide by the animal, and you're hunting in an area where the only natural population control mechanisms are famine and disease, I'd argue that's the most ethical way you can hunt in a modern society.
