A Hades player defies the gods, completes ‘impossible’ run
Hilariously this happened barely more than a week after popular Hades YouTuber Haelian made a video about how max heat would never be broken.

Star Wars Outlaws: Official Gameplay Walkthrough | Ubisoft Forward
This actually looks pretty good? Might be the first Ubisoft game in a long time that I'm interested in. Also very cool to see the gameplay video in an ultrawide aspect ratio.

Here's a video that perfectly breaks it all down but the TLDW is this:
The game has difficulty modifiers that can be added (enemies get more shields, you can't heal, etc.). No one had ever beaten the game on max heat (all modifiers) mostly because of a modifier that restricts your time to complete the game. The problem isn't killing everything - it's killing everything fast enough to beat the clock. There's basically only one build in the game to get the DPS needed but you need a series of exceptionally lucky events to happen to make it possible. This run was thought impossible not because it's literally impossible but because it was unlikely for someone to put in the mind-numbing effort to grind for hundreds or even thousands of hours just to get potential runs. The crazy thing is that Angel got the insane luck needed for a run after just like an hour of serious attempts.

Baldur's Gate 3 and Disco Elysium on Metacritic for PC all time best: both #1 sitting with 97. Half Life (two) finally THIRD!

It's okay to dislike things other people like. And ultimately Metacritic ranking doesn't mean shit anyway.

Android App to automagically send words of affirmation.
This is sorta fucked up. Is it too much work to set timers for you to send these texts yourself? Otherwise you're, y'know, not thinking of your wife.

CD Projekt: "We need to fix the relationship with our players" | GamesIndustry.biz

I mean the Cyberpunk launch was way worse than "everything released by EA, Bethesda and Ubisoft". The last-gen versions were such a colossal fuckup, I don't think I've seen a game run worse at launch since maybe Assassin's Creed Unity(?). I still think CDPR is still a phenomenal studio with great developers, BUT the management of the studio (or at least the cyberpunk project) is clearly terrible. I believe that future CDPR games can be great but they'll need a couple stellar launches before I believe anything their marketing says again.

A Question on Art Syles for Indie Games
I personally have no preference regarding art style. As long as the style is "competently done" then I don't think I'd have a problem with a game's look.
I do think that some art styles can work better with different genres. Pixel art might work better with a retro-inspired game and hand drawn art might go well with something more narrative driven.
For me a game's art style doesn't affect my judgement of the game's value. I think some people perceive pixel art to be "cheap" but when well executed it's gorgeous and difficult to make.

Not particularly niche, but the Danganronpa series! It's amazing to me how consistently good all three of those games are, especially since each one keeps upping the narrative ante.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is Still Over Five Years Away – Phil Spencer
I don't know why people are surprised by this. Any game this big takes 5-6 years to make these days and clearly full production of ES6 won't start until Starfield is done.

Love the Cosmere! Though I've fallen a bit behind, need to finally get to Wax&Wayne 4 and Tress after finishing my Cradle reread lol

Galaxy Quest. I wouldn't say it was a huge disappointment, it was fine, but as someone who has never seen any Star Trek I feel like a lot of the enjoyment was lost on me.

Currently working on my Cradle series reread for the final book's release. I'm uhh only on book 7 right now so I sorta missed my target date lol. I love how much the series grows from book to book, once book 5 hits hoo boy it's off to the races. Can't wait to finally get caught up to the new book but another part of me is dreading finishing the series and having no more Cradle to look forward to lol

Crime O’Clock - Launch Trailer - Nintendo Switch
Played this during the Steam Next Fest, it's really fun! It has more of a cutesy narrative and tone than I was expecting - it's not just straight up where's waldo. Also it's EXTREMELY similar to the board game MicroMacro, so if you're familiar with that then this is basically no different.

Definitely check out Dungeon Crawler Carl if you haven't yet! I think it's easily right up there with Cradle as some of the best stuff in the genre

Recently it has to be the penultimate stage of Hi-Fi Rush. I was absolutely grinning from ear to ear while playing it, just perfect use of a licensed song
