What hyped thing did you fall for that you now regret and have to live with?

I have a Tesla that, for financial reasons, I can't get out of for another couple few months and while it is one of my favorite cars I've ever driven (and I've driven many), I can no longer enjoy driving it because Musk is a piece of shit that deserves cancer. Looking at Lucid and Rivian now.

I also used to believe America was a great country, but in my late 20s started to realize it's bullshit (I'm in my 40s now). It was kind of a sad realization and it has only gotten worse since then.

I also used to believe more in people and their ability for empathy and, if presented the facts, they'd ultimately make good decisions. I now believe people are generally selfish and narcissistic, and that most don't give a shit about facts and live entirely on off-the-cuff emotion. It doesn't stop me from caring and trying to help (some) of them, but it's definitely made me more wary and paranoid.

Has anyone regretted buying a fully electric car?

Yeah, I bought a Tesla and now regret it because Elon is a dipshit.

That said, I've gone over 38,000 miles for less than $900 in electricity. I haven't had to deal with oil changes or any other maintenance items other than tire rotations and tire replacement (the latter was of my own accord they actually said I didn't need to yet, at the time).

I recently did a nearly 4hr trip with no need to charge on the way, and at my destination basically filled back up in something like 25 minutes while checking in to my hotel. So, no range anxiety for me.

The ride is nice, the features are helpful to me, and I have had no other issues with the vehicle.

So if it weren't for Elon I'd love it. I still like it, but I just hate being seen in it now. It's paid off so the financial cost of getting some other EV doesn't make a ton of sense right now, so I guess I'll just drive it until it dies...which at this rate might be a long-ass time.

We're all keyboard warriors with opinions.

I'll get downvoted to hell for this, but I honestly feel like right now it is a nothingburger.

Will I continue to keep an eye on the things they do? Yes. Does their CEOs work history bother me? Yes. Will I keep using it and just keep tabs on settings and extensions? Yes.

everywhere I go

In my defense, the backend contracts change so often in early development the any just made sense at first...

...and then the delivery date was moved up and we all just had to ship it...

...and then half of us got laid off so now there are no resources to go back and fix it...

...rinse, wash, repeat

Cat can change anybody

My now wife didn't really like cats when I met her and was allergic to the point of the hair giving her little welts.

Fast forward a couple few years and she loves my cat and just ends up taking allergy pills every day and dealing with the itching.

Fast forward a few more years when that cat dies and she says she doesn't think we can ever replace him.

Fast forward one month and she comes home with a flyer for a rescue cat she wants to adopt.

And we did and she couldn't be happier.

Dating

My wife and I started living together after 3 months, talking marriage at 6, and formally engaged at 9 months. We've been married over 6 years now.

I don't have time for high school nonsense. I'm not going to burn 1+ years of my life on a "maybe". The older I get, the better I learn what I want and don't want.

We both had similar goals, or rather, goals that we could grow in together and not go separate ways. We had a shared sense of humor. My weaknesses were her strengths and vice versa. And we have activities we love doing together and things we love doing alone. It's fucking great.

Musk accuses Trump whistleblower Vindman of ‘treason,’ says ‘he will pay’

“I served in the military for nearly 22 years and my loyalty is to supporting the U.S. Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. That’s why I reported presidential corruption when I witnessed an effort to steal an election,” he wrote.

“You, Elon, appear to believe you can act with impunity and are attempting to silence your critics. I’m not intimidated,” he added.

What a badass.

This is what peak performance looks like

I knew a guy in college who had to do this, he had a degenerative eye disease or something that no amount of glasses, hard contacts, or whatever could fix. It seemed like it royally sucked, but he always seemed in good spirits.

Except I vaguely recall he impaled his own leg on a sharp branch while jogging because he couldn't see it. That would suck.
