I got a 429 error from Sync. I literally had to look up what that error was. I'll still go to Reddit some on desktop, I image, but I won't be accessing it from mobile unless something radically changes.

If you have an account at one instance, you can see everything from all of the instances that are federated with that instance. If there is another instance that is not federated with the 1st instance, then you have to make an account there to see anything there

I hope that keeping the toxic stuff away will be easier with Lemmy. I think it will because Lemmy has no central authority. Having an area of the internet that is not controlled by corporate interests who are mostly interested in money and sanitize everything to be likable by the greatest number of customers is important to all of human societies, I believe.

If the U.S. could tax that at 1%, there would be $80,500,000,000 available for school lunches, helping the unhoused, etc. The rich would make it back in a day I'm sure.

Give it 5 minutes. Many Lemmy instances are using a lot of resources. I couldn't get Lemmy.world to load a few minutes ago.

That is a smart response that takes the reader time to figure out what it's in response to.

I had the same problem on lemm.ee when that admin upgraded it. In my case, it only happened when I was on Firefox on the desktop. It happened because I had Spanish installed as a display language.

If you have more languages than just English installed in the browser, remove them, close the browser, re-open the browser and see if it works. @https://lemmy.world/u/ruud, If you see this, ask @https://lemm.ee/u/sunaurus what he did to fix the issue on the backend.

I encountered a very similar message on lemm.ee. I know their limit is 100 KB. I'm not sure what the limit for lemmy.world is.
