side effect: poop sweats

I never had poop sweats, or vagus nerve over stimulation until I started taking GLP-1s. It only happens a few times a year, but it can ruin my whole morning. When it happens typically, for me, I am awaken really early at like 3am-6am in the morning, and have the need to poop immediately. and it's like a whole episode. It can take an hour. I sit on the toilet for like an hour, waiting for poop, and sweating/cramping/heart rate increasing/nausea. One time it wasn't too bad, it was only 30 minutes and one sweat breakout. But I've also drenched my shirt in the past.

But this morning, I think I fainted. I was sweating, moaning, wondering if this is what childbirth feels like. I was in there for like an hour. I was constipated this whole week. I think I was dehydrated yesterday. I didn't poop for like 5 days, and I don't think it all came out this morning, but most of it did. I ate pretty healthy this week, a lot of fruit, and fiber. Yesterday I ate ice cream, which was not something I normally eat.

I think it's only happened on a weekend so far. If It happened on a work day, I would probably have to call out for at least the morning. The shitting episodes leave me feeling exhausted and I want to be close to the toilet for a couple hours afterwards.

Also, I am currently only on the 2.5mg Zepbound, the lowest dosage (Since I am weaning off of GLP-1s ) I am hoping these incidents stop once I get off the medication. But before GLP-1s I was fat, pooping every day, a lot of poop, feeling messy. So I prefer upsetting shits 4 times a year vs what I was doing before.

Google says my gastrointestinal issue could have been caused by COVID. I have been trying to avoid talking to my doctor about it because I didn't want her to take away my GLP-1. So it's possible it's not related to GLP-1s at all.

Thanks for reading my shit talk. May you have smooth shits.

I'm weaning off Zepbound

I'm going to try to get pregnant, and need to wean off zepbound beforehand.

My doctor and I came up with a plan. I was on 12.5mg, and weaning down to 7.5mg for one month, down to 2.5mg for one month, and then wait one week before conceiving is the plan we came up with.

I am scared to go off Zepbound. I've been on 7.5mg for two weeks, and I already miss the 12.5mg. I haven't gained any weight yet. I have been more aggressively counting my calories. I do find myself thinking about food more often already, even when I'm not hungry.

It's been worth it to be on Zepbound. I've developed much healthier eating habits than before. I think my body is much healthier to carry a child. I lost over 100lbs, and couldn't have done that without the help of the Rx.

My doctor reassured me that it's normal and expected to gain some weight when pregnant, but still causes me anxiety. I'm confident she will help me get back on to Zepbound once I'm eligible again.

I already have anxiety about becoming pregnant, and starting this journey to parenthood. but I am going to miss Zepbound as well.

I've heard people that say "I've heard you gain all the weight when you go off of it, so what's the point?" "you gotta take it forever" I have had an amazing experience on zepbound and am going to miss it. but I have a good reason to pause using it.

I'm on month 20 of self-injecting compounded semaglutide, and it's making me feel as radiantly healthy as childhood. Plus the feeling of Autumn in the air right now, aah 🍁

Note: This is a niche topic in a niche community. If this topic has nothing to do with your life and your only reaction is to cover my sunshine with your clouds, please move along and leave no uninformed opinions here.

This is me at age FIFTY now and honestly feel as good as when I was a 9-year-old little girl. The effects of this medication are pure health & clarity. It's not even a stimulant, it's a peptide and it's just pure health, for those who need it for diabetes and/or to conquer dopamine-seeking addictions such as binge eating disorder, alcoholism, nicotine, gambling, shopping addictions.

My body & mind are finally free from that prison and I want to get up & play, I feel so free & healthy & alive.

Many people have noted that semaglutide also has anti-inflammatory properties. It has taken my physical pain away. I used to wake up with horrible throbbing shoulder pain every night, whimpering, crying, reaching for Tylenol, and this past week the pain is gone.

Also inflammation has been linked to depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, etc, and if semaglutide does indeed have anti-inflammatory benefits, I'm feeling the benefits. Body & mind. My demons are gone.

Woke up this morning feeling spectacular after yesterday had to do another injection because the unnecessary food binge mental demons started to come back, you know after about 5 or 6 days the semaglutide effects wear off so I injected on day 6, grateful to wake up today feeling fantastic, a normal type of hungry instead of how I felt yesterday, already full of food but wanted to keep eating all day.

Because I'm sensitive to inflammation and if I'd given into my manaical desire to eat a whole damn loaf of Dave's Killer Bread slathered in butter yesterday, I would've waken up feeling achy & puffy & brain fog & low self-esteem. I know because I've done it to myself a million times before.

Sure, self-control can be a method of dealing with binge eating disorder, which I white-knuckled through yesterday, but binge eating disorder is a demon that constantly beats at your brain 24/7/365.

Semaglutide quiets those demons, freeing up your brain to live life instead of fighting demons all the time.

Many semaglutide enthusiasts have also noted that it has cured their alcoholism & gambling & nicotine cravings & addictions too. Alcoholics no longer craving alcohol. Gambling addicts no longer craving gambling. Cigarette addicts no longer craving cigarettes. This is revolutionary.

I know this Lemmy Fediverse semaglutide community seems pretty much dead right now but I'm glad it exists because I am a Lemmy girl now that Reddit has 100% most certifiably banned me for life, and the only other place I know to discuss semaglutide is on discord but it's an absolute zoo over there and gives me a headache

so I'm dropping my thoughts here ✌🏼

CVS Caremark is stopping coverage of Zepbound and switching everyone to Wegovy. Please sign the petition.

Like many, I have greatly benefited from Zepbound. I've lost 40 pounds so far, and all my blood work is back in the normal range (I had high cholesterol for years and was starting up with diabetes and fatty liver disease—but no more!). I no longer hate how I look! There is no more constant food noise, and I can easily eat the correct portion sizes. And those are just some of the benefits.

But now CVS Caremark, which handles prescriptions for many in the US, will stop covering Zepbound entirely and force everyone to switch to Wegovy. Many have already tried Wegovy, and it doesn't work for them.

Please consider signing this petition. Thank you!

Lost 50lbs on semaglutide. people definitely notice.

Nearly two years of semaglutide, and I've lost 50lbs, and am still gradually losing weight. My goal weight is about 15-20lbs away. I credit the majority of my weight loss to changing my diet, with help of the Rx. I do exercise more, but I think that diet has played a larger factor in my weight loss.

I'm at a point that certain clothes are too big for me now, and I donate and replace them. I have some old clothes that I fit in once again. But there are a lot of pieces that I still wear, just looser and more comfortably.

I'm currently taking Semaglutide from a compounding pharmacy, but was given a Rx for Zepbound by my doctor, that I have not yet started taking.

I do have concerns if I ever stopped taking a GPL agonist medication, that I may gain weight back, and struggle to keep my weight down long term. But I am enjoying the results, and have developed a lot more healthier habits.

Got 6 months of Zepbound approved by insurance, but I'm on a compounding Rx of semaglutide.

My doctor moved, so I went to the same office, but talked to a new doctor. This new doctor asked me about the unfilled Wegovy Rx that I received in the past. I told her I had some issues after switching insurance companies, but forgot to mention that I had compounding pharmacy semaglutide. New doctor got me Zepbound, and the insurance said it is covered currently for 6 months. I'm guessing that means I will need my doctor to follow up with insurance after 6 months.

I have an Rx of Zepbound that's actually covered by insurance! but I still have compounded semaglutide!

The internet tells me not to take both at the same time but... What happens if I do?

Why I will not be starting weight lifting until I'm on a stable dose

Trigger Warning: shameless GI TMI

Whenever I can muster the confidence to re-enter the dating scene I end up working out to get in good shape. I have various psych issues I'm working on so I rarely leave the house these days, but I had to get blood drawn for med/marker levels. While I was in my second week of semaglutide treatment I experienced a distressing "thought I was passing air" scenario in public.

I'd been so psyched that Wegovy was covered by my insurance and that new normal of confidence almost resulted in me returning to the gym. However since I can't stand cardio yet love strenuous weight lifting, I realized I couldn't do that with a GI system with so many variables right now.

When did y'all adapt to these types of gastrointestinal changes?

Down 40 lbs in 6 months.

It's been about 6 months of using semaglutide. I've lost about 40 lbs. Multiple people, especially over the holidays, have told me they can tell I've lost weight. I can see that I've lost weight in my face. But it doesn't look drastic. I still have 50 pounds to reach my desired weight. I'm still overweight. I suspect the first 30 pounds are easier to lose than the next 30 pounds.

My diet and eating habits have changed a lot since I began taking this medicine. I can still eat a plate of food at a restaurant. but I do eat less calories, less often, more fruits and vegetables. a lot less fried food, candy, rich foods. I can eat two meals a day now, when I used to eat 3-4 meals plus snacks.

I used to obsess about going to restaurants frequently, but I'm okay with eating at home more often. I spend a few hundred dollars every month on this medicine, but I suspect I am breaking even since I don't eat at restaurants as often as I did. I was really emotionally attached to going to restaurants, and having over the top meals, possibly ordering an appetizer or dessert along side an already caloric dinner. It sparked happiness for me - but now I have a much better grasp on this. and can look for activities outside of food to bring me happiness. I feel calmer.

After about 4 months of being on semaglutide, I felt like the medicine was stagnating, and I wasn't losing weight anymore. It took the edge off, but the food noise, and ability to overeat were still there. It was really emotional for me because I was nowhere near where I wanted to be. I reached out to the compounding pharmacy, and they offered me a higher dose -and I am losing weight again, feeling more in control of my eating, not experiencing food noise to the level that I used to. I'll have to wait and see if I feel like it stagnates again in months time.

I really like being on this medicine. There may be unknown risks with it, but for me, I felt like being overweight and overeating was high risk and I really needed help to change my patterns.
