What is this Tag?

Hi all, I hope this community is not dead or the wrong place

I was watching Alone Season 7 Episode 6 on Netflix. The screenshot was taken roughly 40 mins in. One of the key moments is the contester shown in the picture killing a Musk Ox using bow and arrow. Later, when he hauls back his gain, I cannot help but notice there seems to be a plastic tag attached to this Ox leg. It very much looks like something they would use in a commercial butchery to keep track of their products.

Online I could find a lot of controversy about how the kill was made. People think how the show is cut, it leaves out key information or overplays some struggles. But the overall opinion seems that Alone is one of the only shows where competitors are truly on their own. I did not find a single discussion about that yellow plastic looking tag. What is this? And why is it on a leg of an animal supposedly killed in the wilds by a guy surviving on his own?

Squirrel of a lifetime.

Sixteen hunts over three weeks to take her. She was so wiley. Grey squirrel, eyes are dark red with white around edges. She stayed in heavy briars and would run out of trees without lingering. Taken freehand at 35 yards with scope at 7x, .22lr, through a hole in Trifoliate Orange briars. Public land.

Scared to death a hawk would get her.

I've never hunted harder.

Edit: Dang. Albino squirrels have short lives, hawks take them out and they don't live past the first year. This squirrel lived in an island of trees in a field and is likely albino due to inbreeding. The genes are in no way advantageous and are only rare due to the extreme predation they cause.

I regularly eat fish and game that I kill myself. This is the only trophy I've ever taken. Unless you're a vegetarian, I doubt you have the same respect for animals that I do. I've worked in factory farms and understand, at a shit on boots and pants level, the horror involved with most meat that is eaten. Do you?

Hunting Pack Essentials

New to Lemmy so wanted to start creating some engaging content for new hunters who may land here.

What's the must haves in your pack?

Mine is a life jacket strobe light. Occasionally I get weird glances when people see it at camps, etc. but it has more than once been used to guide people to our location after recovering game at sunset. I originally carried it in the event I was lost while hiking since I solo often in Arizona's Southern Mountain ranges for Deer .
