Fallout Settlement Mods Monthly Megathread - May 2025

Hey there, c/FalloutMods! The month of May, known by some as working class history month, is coming to a close. And in the spirit of working class cooperation, this month's monthly modding mega-thread will be dedicated to settlements!

Fallout 4

  • If there's one thing Fallout 4's settlement system lacks, it would be the actual 'settling'. Conquest solves this problem by allowing you to set out into the Commonwealth and beyond, and stake your very own claim. Ranging from campsites to full fledged towns!
  • A community without children is a community without a future, and if the wasteland is going to produce anything in droves, that would be orphans. With Orphans of the Commonwealth your dreams of self-sustaining child communes can come true, simply build it and they will come, just like any other settlers!
  • No discussion on Fallout settlements is complete without Sim Settlements 2 which, alongside it's subsequent chapters, introduces brand new, dynamic and self-building settlement mechanics. If you haven't checked it out yet, absolutely do so.

Fallout: New Vegas

  • Some of you may be asking, how on Earth does this post extend to New Vegas? And to that I would say, you clearly haven't heard of Real Time Settler, New Vegas's very own settlement mechanics mod which predates Fallout 4's launch. And hey, if it doesn't sound great to you - rest assured that Bethesda sure seemed to think otherwise.

And that closes this month's monthly post. If you enjoyed this list, or feel like you have your own contributions, please feel free to share your thoughts in this post's discussion.

Welcome to Fallout Mods 2025!

Hi, I'm @rosahaj, the new moderator for c/FalloutMods! I've taken over for our founder, @comcreator since they've gone absent, and am committed to building the best Fallout modding community this side of the internet! I plan to do this through a friendly, and active moderation team, which will help foster the growth of our little community. If you have any interest in helping us achieve this as moderator, feel free to leave an application in the comments of this post!

So, What's the Plan? Of course I can't just sit back and wait for a community to form around me, so I've decided to make a few changes around here.

  • A fresh Coat of Paint: I'm sure returning community members will have noticed that the community looks different, complete with a new icon and banner. It's not much, but it's home.
  • A Little More Activity: I plan on personally increasing the community's activity through the occasional post, and a dedication to assisting and responding to any posts left by community members.
  • New Featured Posts: Inspired by r/skyrimmods's "Best Mods For..." series, I will be creating featured posts, which will be pinned to the top of the community on a schedule. These will be community discussions, themed around a specific topic, which will help compile mod recommendations and conversations. Suggestions for featured posts are encouraged!

I would like to ask the community to help me out. If you have anything to say about Fallout and it's modding scene, please post here! I will do my best, but community building is a group effort, and no matter how small, I enjoy discussion talking about the Fallout modding scene, and am happy to help anyone who asks!

Finally, I would like to promote our sister community, [email protected], moderated by the wonderful @[email protected], where you'll find more general discussion, and please feel free to cross-post!

Is the unofficial patch still working?

I can't find the unofficial fallout 4 patch anywhere. I was saving modding for after I 100% the game and it took me 10 fucking years to finally do the institute playthrough fully. Every time I got close, I backed out and went with the RR. I just couldn't kill Desdemona. Anyways I sucked it up and got the platinum trophy. One of the mods I've picked requires the patch but I could only find the German one on PS4. Is it not working anymore, or am I just not seeing it?

I've been so excited to start running mods and now I don't know if I can.

Noob with an idea

Hey gang, I've been thanking for a while that it would be cool if I could make legendaries spawn with 3 random perks on them instead of one. I figure all but like 4 of the legendary effects basically suck to get, no one is excited for yet another junky pipe pistol, but if I got junky/crippling/powerful or something that could be a whole roleplay inspiration. Plus imagine getting something wild like a two shot/two shot/explosion shotgun.

Anyone have advice on how I can make this happen? I know there are cheats where you can craft legendaries, but I really want to make it a random gen so that legendary weapons are fun to get again.

Fallout Pride Mods Megathread - June 2025

Hey, c/FalloutMods, rosahaj here. June is coming to a close, and with it, the month-long observance of Pride month with it. And so, what better topic is there to dedicate this month's megathread to than the modding community's very own Pride mods?

Fallout 4

  • Elianora has long shown commitment to padding out the Fallout modding scene with pride mods, so why not paint the town red (yellow, green, etc) with Craftable Pride Flags?
  • Scars tell stories, few pleasant. There is however, the notable exception of molding one's body fit for form, which you'll be able to display with Radbeetle's Top Surgery Scars Overlay?
  • Admit it, the wasteland gets awfully lonely on those long, cold nights. Lone wanderers certainly not exempted, though they won't have to fret for long with Blahaj Emotional Support, where you'll get to fashion your very own companion to carry forth into the great unknown. Thanks to Herby247 you'll be granted the privilege of your very own blå-, or perhaps even... rosahaj?

Fallout: New Vegas

  • Expiry dates be damned, if you're gonna live in the shithole that is post-war America, you're gonna do it as your authentic self! [HRT New Vegas - Immersive Gender Change by ProfMajkowski introduces a brand new, configurable, transitioning mechanic!
  • Like Mick always says, 'a polite society is an armed society', and you'll be able to show any ne'er-do-wells exactly where you stand on community defense with kylemarshiku's Pride Arsenal. After all, nobody ever said progress was easy.

Fallout 3

  • Fallout 3 hasn't seen the privilege of making the cut for these monthly posts before, but something would be amiss if I skipped Pope74220's Pride Flag you can beat people with. After all, you'll be spreading the love one way or another

As always, feel more than welcome to contribute your very own suggestions in the discussion of this post! And with that, dear readers, I bid you farewell.

Fallout Mods Monthly - Aprill Fools 2025

Hello, c/FalloutMods! Today is the first of April, as you may already be well aware, and already we're seeing some fantastic, perhaps even must-have mods coming from the theoretical physicists in the Fallout modding community. Check them out in this month's list!

Garry's Mod 4

Fallout: New Vegas: Anniversary Edition

  • Hold on to your Power Armor, because in this year's release of Fallout New Vegas - Bethesda Edition, mod developer, TheElfBard introduces some fresh new factions into the Fallout universe, such as the noble Brotherhood of Steel, and even the dastardly Brotherhood of Steel!
  • The best defence is an even better offence, and it seems that the aptly named Hitman agrees, with the fresh new Nuke on a Stick! Who ever said war had to change?
  • Forget raytracing, what you really need are the new graphical enhancements from New Vegas Unloaded by WallSoGB.
  • Reading through this month's megathread has got to be tiring. Rest your eyes with Immersive Blinking, brought to you by Stentorious

And that's it for this month's monthly mod spotlight. I hope you all enjoyed this (late) little post, and are excited to see what comes next in Fallout Mods!

Fallout Armor Modding Megathread - Fallout Mods Monthly March 2025

Hello, c/FalloutMods. March seems to have snuck up on me, and so I present you with our second Monthly Modding Megathread! Feel free to discuss armor mods that you love, or have simply struck your fancy. Below are a few recommendations by myself to start you off.

Fallout 4

One modder who I just cannot escape finding in my mod lists is Niero, and especially their 'CROSS' series of mods. And in my opinion, few come close to their Institute armor designs, such as their CROSS Institute Expeditionary Suit

For those of you with a more 'vanilla' persuasion, we've got you covered with modders such as PrincessAries, who has made a beautiful set of armors by putting together pre-existing meshes. I personally quite like the Minutemen Enforcer Armor which implements some armor from Fallout: London in a vanilla-friendly design.

Fallout: New Vegas

If you're like most New Vegas players, there's just something about the older games that appeals to you, and it seems no one would agree more than TPOl7uHKA, who has made beautiful redesigns of classic armors such as their Classic Brotherhood Combat Armor. If you are modding Fallout: New Vegas, I cannot implore you enough to give these mods a look.

And finally, for a blast from the past, Sweet6Shooter has created a fantastic re-implementation of nivea's wonderful Spice of Life armor collection. Using New Vegas' over decade-long learned lessons and innovations, Spice of Life Overhaul is absolutely worth your eye!

And that's going to be all from me tonight, folks. Please feel free to discuss any mods you want heard, and I'll be seeing you next month. :)

Fallout: Ashfall - Official Teaser

Come visit Hawai’i island in Fallout: Ashfall, an upcoming Fallout: New Vegas project which seeks to explore the American Commonwealth's very own foothold in the Pacific!

A relative newcomer to the Fallout: New Vegas modding scene, Fallout: Ashfall seeks not to continue any storylines found in the mainline entries, but instead to present a whole new world to Fallout fans, complete with new, unique factions and an ecology new to the series. Feel free to give Fallout: Ashfall some attention!

Fallout: The Frontier Rework Master Document

Most people know of the disasterous launch of (Legacy) Fallout: The Frontier, but did you know about the rework which is underway? That's right, The Frontier's release is still ahead of us, and the team released a master document outlining their plans for the future early September, last year.

P.S: The rework is currently looking for chinese-american voice actors fluent in both mandarin and english for an upcoming faction, if this sounds like you, please consider applying!

Mod Shout-out: New Vegas Reloaded

With the recent successes of Community Shaders for Skyrim, I think it's apt that I shout-out Fallout: New Vegas' very own graphics extender, New Vegas Reloaded. While unfortunately only officially available through Discord, New Vegas Reloaded is a true game changer, and is absolutely worth your attention!

A Better World - Cabin Workshop Pack (Fallout 4 Modification)

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/12445391

If you don't know about this mod:

A Better World is an upcoming story-driven new world modification for Fallout 4.

A Better World tells the story of two women on the run from the Institute: Jo and Liz, and their mission to create a better, safer world. To support this story, the mod features a dual setting split between the vast wilderness of Abbot County and the derelict ruins of an underground pre-war shopping center called Vault-Tec Plaza.

A new project from the creator of Alton, IL for Fallout 3, A Better World will feature an extensive main quest, plenty of side quests, and a huge new world full of unique activities and challenges.
