Software as a service is changing rapidly
A team effectively open sourced major Adobe Inc. tools and supposedly they're competitive in terms of quality. If smaller teams can achieve this using AI to accelerate development, then the prospect of earning money doing this as a service is nearly nothing. The costs have plummeted to almost free, and the moat doesn't exist.
The future for a company like Adobe is going to be very interesting. Software as a service can't be profitable if it doesn't cost anything and it's all open source.
It makes sense that's how it'd happen, every time someone switches to using an open source tool it takes money away from software companies which then leads to layoffs. I don't really know what that looks like, have you noticed any other open source alternatives that are actually drawing attention?

Generating a realistic looking photographic AI image of a woman versus a cartoon looking drawing of a woman is VERY different.
The lack of concern regarding generated images that the average viewer just could not tell whether it was real or generated is a problem. Seeing people generate and post realistic photographic AI images and the fact that it's accepted without some serious recognition of this concern is going to be a growing problem now that AI image generation has become very capable.
This is why corroboration and context are important, but I still think that platforms should seriously start moderating this heavily at the source.
The AI powered web is actually Web3
Whatever nonsense blockchain was supposed to do, AI is actually doing it now for real.
I think AI companion apps are a serious concern
In terms of regulations and all that, people spending time on those, and god forbid actually paying for it, seriously need to be informed.
New data center construction should halt immediately

They wrote: "a sign that demand for AI is much lower than previously thought"
I don't agree with "AI demand is significantly lower than expected".
It's missing a more nuanced reality, which is that AI is becoming significantly cheaper faster than anyone expected. To be clear, AI demand is growing, and its capabilities are becoming more powerful. The money though? Yea, significantly less money to be made when the costs to run the AI is 100th the price they expected it to be in a couple years.
New data center construction should end immediately. EXTREME waste.
AI companies are never going to earn the money back that was invested in them
Anyone mentioning Jevons paradox doesn't know what they're talking about.
