I don't agree with "AI demand is significantly lower than expected".
It's missing a more nuanced reality, which is that AI is becoming significantly cheaper faster than anyone expected. To be clear, AI demand is growing, and its capabilities are becoming more powerful. The money though? Yea, significantly less money to be made when the costs to run the AI is 100th the price they expected it to be in a couple years.
New data center construction should end immediately. EXTREME waste.

I actually had a crazy dream last night that a family member bought a new apartment and it was next to a giant data center buzzing. The funny thing was they said in the dream that it wasn't going to be there for long anyway, so they bought the place at a huge discount because people didn't want it.
