I posted a similar topic early today but worded it wrong that was my mistake. I'm genuinely curious how people have reached to this point and what they hope to achieve after. I understand getting rid of AI/LLM is the obvious one. What do you think we should do to get to that goal or your personal goal.

No, this isn't a case of different people having different opinions about different ways to obtain information during different times. More often than not, I find that the SAME people who act like Wikipedia is the most unreliable thing on Earth unironically trust the FIRST Google Search result they see, as well as everything they've ever seen in ChatGPT.

Need I remind you that Google is LITERALLY designed to cater to your biases? And it's gotten WORSE because the first result you see is NOW AI-Generated. Also, Google is not a source! And AI Chatbots cite THEMSELVES as sources!

Wikipedia on the other hand is curated by REAL VOLUNTEER HUMANS who strive to be accurate as possible. I'm aware that Wikipedia is no stranger to agendas or vandalism, but these editors are quick and dedicated to be as accurate as possible. So much so that whenever a building is on fire, they LITERALLY label it as "Status: Burning". Not burned... BURNING! Meanwhile, Google tells you to put glue on your pizza...

And yes, I know that Wikipedia is not a source. Like Google, Wikipedia is a GATEWAY to sources, and not a source in and of itself. But at the very least, Wikipedia DOESN'T try to give you what you will like, because you'll get what is (most likely) the truth instead, backed up by several CREDIBLE sources that are constantly fact-checked by volunteer humans.

So why do people hate Wikipedia so much? And why do these SAME PEOPLE cite Google and ChatGPT as a source?

19 (f) and a virgin. I was getting really turned on by what he was doing. Then he stuck his finger up there, not fast, and he let me know before he did it but I screamed stop because both the pressure and the pain was too much. he got it up by about an inch or less at that point. I work with food, think about menus for 5k people three times a day. Most of the food is bad, but sometimes you get lucky and get decent food, like fish or chicken).

Not all clients eat their food, which means huge, and I really mean huge amounts of perfectly fine food get discarded, food the client didn’t even touch, which is simply stupid.

I was born in a country where getting rid of perfectly fine food is one of the stupidest things you can do. It is extremely moronic, only an asshole would do that.

Everyone at my workplace eats some of that food because that way you save money and don’t have to cook back home, and who cares? It’s going in the bin if nobody eats it.

My manager cares apparently, because he asked me if I eat some of that food. My answer was yes, I eat food that I know nobody is going to eat before it goes to the bin and that I'm not the only one, seems to be normalized there. His answer was a typical managerial answer: that’s stealing.

Don’t jump to demonize the manager yet, he was friendly about it. He asked me politely not to eat any food anymore.

But it’s going to be very, very difficult for me to control myself, seeing and smelling that sometimes good food knowing I cannot touch it. I was saving the cost of a full menu per day.

A question for cooks now: do you really eat nothing while cooking? Don’t drink anything?

I’m mainly talking about conversations that are wired (like those use by law enforcement) when an undercover agent is wearing a wire. Of course, those conversations are recorded but can languages alone obfuscate the nuance of the spoken dialog since each language is different?

Again, not talking about “Spanish to English” level translation where it’s straight forward, rather it’s closer to “Japanese to English” where there are cultural differences, slang, honorifics and personification that can’t be translated properly without given context in advance.

I'm at a friend's place and the cat keeps bringing in dead (or half-dead) animals into the house. It's my understanding that cats think we are big, helpless kittens that don't know how to hunt. Hence, they think they are doing us a favour.

It seems like a few mice actually escaped and found refuge in some walls in the house, so these "presents" are actually more than just annoying (and smelly if the dead animal ends up behind the couch).

Some background. My favorite song is a song I haven't heard yet. And my appetite sways wildly. One month it's old school urban rap, the next it's kpop, and then Nordic death metal and so on.

I never know what I'll be in the mood for but I'll find a thread with a song I don't know and use it to build play lists to see what I find and sometimes I find trash gems that way.

I've been noticing a wild pattern lately, I couldn't tell if it's either a ragebait or not but every single one of them seems quite confident with their wrong answer.. Well most of the time they're likely schrodinger asshole.

Some people in most social media (whether it's tiktok, instagram or youtube) always say the most stupidest thing in a comment section, and most of the time they spread misinformation and believed those misinformation without doing any proper research which made me concerned.

One time someone argued with me that intel management engine on 2008-2010 chipset has a "crazy spyware backdoor" and I explained to them that most 2008-2010 chipset lack network stacking in order to be a proper backdoor and since those older chipset lack network stacking physically and needed vPro edition of the chip for network stacking.

I did some research more on why they believed that information and I found a popular tiktok video that went across my feed a few months ago which contained misinformation and did not clarify the vPro part.

Someone even admitted in my comment section that they're doing research on the tiktok search bar.. tiktok search engine isn't even reliable for researching!

I seriously think I should take a break from social media, because how come these type of people even exist without any instinct of researching properly? Have you encountered people like this too? Please tell me I'm not the only one whose encountering these type of people.

These creams have some chemical that blocks the UV with some capacity, say a factor of 50. Why can't I apply two layers of this cream to now get a 100 factor equivalent protection?

I asked the chemist at the store and they said it's not how it works and that the highest protection factor they have is 75 (which was super expensive).

I mean I can tell my lawyer if I committed a crime and it's attorney client privilege. I can tell my wife or husband and we are protected not to squeal on each other. Same thing about telling a priest it is privileged information. How come a nurse or doctor is required to report it. I mean non of the above are life and death but a confession from a patient should be privileged in my opinion why is it not? Like if a person says they use meth or whatever, we really don't report it. But if he get's in a wreck and only causes himself or herself injury why are we to report it to the police does not HIPPA cover this?

When I first installed CachyOS, my mind was blown away by how quickly and conveniently I could start playing my Windows games with it. With its proton-cachyos-slr wine executable, it was only a matter of setting the game executable and runtime locations in Lutris and I could start playing the game immediately.

However, ever since I updated my system with sudo pacman -Syu in the beginning of May, almost every game stopped opening like it used to. Of those games, almost half of them would simply not open at all with any tweaking. The rest of the games eventually started to run but some of them were hit by performance degradation severe enough to not be playable.

I tried to search for the cause on the CachyOS forums and wiki. I managed to find some posts somewhat discussing this issue, citing issues with the new kernel or the proton-cachyos-slr package. Unfortunately following their proposed solutions like downgrading proton-cachyos-slr or tweaking runtime settings in Lutris didn't fix the problem.

Eventually I moved on to the CachyOS documentation, mentioning an option of using an alternative wine executable wine-cachyos. It wasn't available as a regular executable option and had to be called manually, but eventually it allowed me to play most of my games like before.

I don't feel comfortable with this setup since the entire implementation feels like a hack instead of being an in-built feature, requires additional configuration process for every new game added and still doesn't allow me to run some of my games that I have spent most of my playing hours on. I have been experiencing this for almost 2 months and I have been contemplating my decision to update my system.

Is there a way to go back to how my system was before without resorting to snapshots or a fresh installation? I don't expect solutions as you would do in support forums; I am just in need of advice on where to start looking to solve my concern. If you need debug info or context, I'll happily provide them.

I hate gnome and how it looks and how it works. I'm glad that there is something which is that drastically different for people that enjoy it.
