It's kinda funny that the Scottish plantationists get away, uh hmm... Scot free in the talk of Northern Ireland.

It's almost this isn't taught at school 😂.

It is taught in Germany. But yes, in everyday talk you're right.

I know this isn't the place for nuance but no, it's very different situations.

Northern Ireland was formed and exists by consent by the parties involved.

As you sound like you're an expert on Irish history, I'm sure you'll remember there was a full fledged civil war fought in Ireland over the fact that the North was abandoned during the war for independence.

Yes, I have multiple members of my family that were killed in the troubles, so it's pretty hard for me to forget.

But I also remember the good Friday agreement. Which was signed at the end up of that civil war by both Ireland and the UK and places a lot of weight on the idea of consent of the people.

Please stop trying to turn everything into a completely black and white binary so you can take a side and have an argument.

Yeah it exists with consent now, but you can't say it was formed with consent. Its just a minor correction.

The same way they consented to having all of their food stolen and being forced to scrounge for diseased potatoes?

It's not about "nuance" it's about how "consent" can't exist for an occupied people.

4

Exactly what I'm talking about. You remove all nuance from the situation to boil it down into something simple, a black and white situation so you can take an absolutist position. Because that's easier for you to understand.

Calling modern day Ireland occupied, is just tragically misinformed, and jigonistic. and your early comments also show a lack of understanding of Irish history as well.
