Weed sucks now. They breed it for thc and something got lost along the way. It straight up does not get you as stoned as ot did 20 years ago. And yes I've had some top grade shit.

Possibly, your own body (and your own tolerance level) has changed in the last 20 years, not the weed.

I've heard that crap. I smoked for the first time a few days ago sense April this year. It's not tolerance. They just made an artisanal product into the equivalent of a pbr. It's all the same now. I watched the industry come in and get more and more uniform until the label made no difference.

I disagree. Some strains that have high THC don't get me as high as other lower THC strains. I always get a few different kinds whenever I stock up and they all hit differently. It's not worse than it was back in the day, anecdotally it's not even close, but the main thing is there are options now, and more money doesn't necessarily mean more high. Find the turpines you like and stick with that, because imo, that's more relevant than THC content.

I'm a decades long all day erryday stoner. You're absolutely right, I had a landrace strain a few years ago and it was such a good high. Strain names used to mean lineage and now it's just branding.

3

Could it be that you used to be anxious and paranoid when smoking the weed 20 years ago? Those two things alone will enhance your high by a 100x, and is typically the case for people aging out of that stage of life.

Or you're just older now, and nothing feels the same, you're body can produce as much endo/serotonin and you feel less high.

It's not the weed though, not all places only sell the high thc artisinal stuff, there are plenty of options if you look.

Yes but also no. His tolerance got higher but weed has changed a lot too.

My main problem is a lack of history preservation, apparently all the landrace strains are lost and nobody makes real hash anymore because BHO and rosin.

I have a buddy that was a competition grower when it was not legal. The difference between his product and dispensary product is so vast, they might as well be different plants entirely.

Dispo weed is indeed bad, and I don't know what's missing, but it's missing.

It gives me twice as much anxiety. I stopped using it because the risk of anxiety was increasing with just a few small hits, it used to take smoking all day to even risk triggering anxiety for me. Old man weed from weaker stuff decades back was perfect for me. Oh well.

I'm not sure why no one grows or stocks any low grade weed. I don't want super weed..

11

I think someone should find wild cannabis in Southeast Asia and just start over. The stuff today is messed up.

4

There's definitely low grade options, like shake, and past that there are varying THC levels and turpines. Every shop I've been to has at least a dozen options to choose from, and most have way more than that.

4

Most dispensaries these days do have weaker products, often sold as CBD forward strains for sleep or stress. But the vast majority of people do just smoke less of the stronger weed. If you are taking small, shallow hits and not holding it in and it's giving you anxiety, weaker weed probably won't be any different, versus just looking for a mellower strain. There are definitely some pure Sativa strains which reliably spike my heart rate and make me crash out.

1

My friend also started to get affected by anxiety until she found a strain or 2 that had more noticeable amounts of cbg or CBN

Not sure if they will work for you but also according some stoners you gotta pay attention to the terpenes if you start to react unhappily to the strains you are using.

2

The most disappointing experience regarding weed for me was when it first became legal here and I started going to dispensaries, I found a jar of 100% pure THC. Thought it would get me so, so high.... It basically did fuck all by itself. But sprinkled over an actual bowl of flower, it got you stoned greater than the bud by itself. So even before I ever saw any studies showing the synergies between the cannaboids and terpenes and other chemicals in the plant can make you feel all kinds of differences vs a concentrate I had anecdotal evidence that had to be the case.

7

Yeah, I usually do concentrates because of their convenience, but when I do smoke a bowl of ground up bud, I notice the quality of the high is way better.

1

Anyone serious could tell you this, minor cannabinoids like CBC and even a small amount of CBD potentiate the high. It's a balancing game though, because in excess CBD will substantially reduce the high

This is the way!

We have some left over harvest of a stronger weed variant at home (28ish %) and I just can't like it because it's too strong for me and I skip the fun part of the high and directly move on to sleepy.

Have you used it to make infusions? Stoner Gump will show you the way

Nope, too much hassle. We use it to trade with friends, offer out to visitors or when my spouse is looking for a strong high :D

The fact that I can easily mail order flowers with the THC level and terpenes I prefer made me a bit picky as well.

I enjoy the cannabis culture where I am at. I usually buy from the government stores just to support legalization, and honestly I dont have much interest in support organized crime and all the problems it brought in the 90s and early 00s. I can get 20 prerolls for anywhere from about a dollar a piece, or I can spend 60$ on a single prerolls.

And since I was essentially new to it since it became legal here, I have decades to develop what I enjoy. It helps that I just want to enjoy the experience because I actually enjoy it as opposed to just needing to always have "the best", which is generally what I've noticed people call anything that is the most expensive. I guess growing up poor can be beneficial in that I had to learn that you can have awesome experiences without the hype

2

We don't have government stores but I can order from pharmacies. I enjoy to be able to choose instead of just buying what the dealer offers and also sometimes getting chemical shit. But I also started late (30+).

I checked my last orders and the most expensive stuff, was the more medical leaning strains with more CBD and lower THC levels (about 8€ per gram). While most of the strains I like are about 5ish € per strain. Which is both way cheaper than what I paid in the past.

Next year we're also going to grow again.

I hope our current government won't change any of the regulations. It's become easier, more reliable and more enjoyable after decriminalization.

I'm in Seattle. We can get anything from 1:1::CBD:THC or 1:1:1:::CBD:CBN:THC. The concentration on those goes way down, depending on the potency of the flower. For straight THC stuff, 16% is as low as I can find, and that's usually indica strains. 30% and better is available, but most of our stuff sits in the 22-28% range, at least at my local shop.

I'm also someone who smokes a quarter of a joint, saves it, and I come back for more later. Potency isn't really the problem when I do it that way since I just stop when I'm high enough. :)

2

I smoke the same way when I am alone and not needing to pass a bowl/joint around that keeps going until ash. Take a hit every couple of hours most of the time. I have my own sweet spot of highness that soothes my anxiety, makes my body feel groovy, and quiets my mind but doesn't make me so completely braindead I become unfunctional. 🤣

yes, it's noticeable that even a higher quantity of the same weed won't make you any higher after a certain point. especially if you have somewhat of a tolerance.

2

oooooh it's almost mango season too. Good thinking
