Where are you using Lemmy from?
As a new Lemmy user, I'm curious where most people use it from - Is it web, mobile, desktop app?
I'm using Photon and it looks pretty good. At least better than the default web one.

Mobile Voyager user here too. I’m mostly pretty happy with it, as it reminds me a lot of Apollo. It would be nice if keywords and link domains I’ve blocked were sorted alphabetically instead of by block date, and if crossposts from communities I’ve blocked were also themselves blocked.
I don’t think I’ve signed into the web version in months, if not at least a year.
I have too many apps on my phone so I haven't looked for a mobile version. Using it from web on both phone and desktop.
You can use voyager on web at vger.app. the app itself is pretty much a web app, but even in a browser it feels like a completely native app.
Summit for Android. It's good and fast. I've tried some web apps, but I always return to Summit.
Same here. Had to disable the swipe actions because I use android's gesture navigation. But it's the only app I've used that gets out of its own way.
Toilet.
In fairness, the internet is a series of tubes…
Straight from my ass for your consumption.
You think that's bad, you should see the uriness
Mobile, voyager. Almost always. Though as a community mod Voyager has some weird quirks and I find myself having to resolve some weird cases via desktop.
Voyager App.
Almost exclusively.
Voyager rulesss
Same. On PC I use a web browser, but it's so much slower and less polished than Voyager.
Voyager. I've been extremely happy with it.
iOS voyager webapp
It works very smoothly, it’s very efficient and without it I wouldn’t browse lemmy as often.
Before I discovered lemmy I was using apollo for Reddit which was exactly what voyager is today. I think the apollo dev allowed voyager to use the code base of Apollo
I don't believe the source was shared. I remember the Apollo dev indicating they were surprised in discovering how much of the voyager design had been 'borrowed'.
“Thunder for Lemmy”
Same. First one I discovered and it works pretty well.
Boost app
Boost for Lemmy, Android
On mobile with Voyager. I've tried other clients, but I always come back to Voyager.
I use Lemmy from the
toiletsorry, I mean I'm on Voyager (F-Droid) on LineageOS!Boost for Lemmy on Android (LineageOS)

My phone in the woods in the foothills of southern Appalachia
How’s the signal?
Bangin'. Cell tower 1/4 mile down the dirt road. 45 minute drive to groceries though.
👍
Phone, boost. Always forget I can also use my desktop browser but honestly I'm so used to Boost it's like it's a completely different website
Really it was Reddit no longer allowing third party apps to use their APIs that got me to look elsewhere and since I had been using Boost for Reddit anyway, and there was also a Boost for Lemmy
Voyager on phone for regular use. Then once in a while I log in on the desktop browser to save all my Star Trek memes and dump them on my company Slack.
It looks pretty good everywhere I’ve seen it. It’s a leg up from old Reddit, which was plain but stood the test of time.
VSCode extension.
Right now, from Emacs.
What are you using for that? old.lemmy.zip? I would've thought that wouldn't work since it's behind cloudflare, but I just tried it and it does. Interesting.
I use this: https://codeberg.org/martianh/lem.el
Oh, that's a client that works directly in emacs, I wasn't aware something like that existed! Thank you for sharing. I had assumed you were simply using a web interface in eww.
web. its pretty much how I prefer to do most things.
I use a web browser on my android tablet 99% of the time. I don't believe in installing many apps to access something a web browser does just fine especially with a limited amount of storage.
For a moment I thought this was gonna be a "where are you from?" type question until I clicked out of curiosity...
Voyager on android. It's good for my usecase. Not much else I can say.
Okay, yes, fine, you're a cat, but what do you use, Mr. Cat?
;-)
Mobile, in browser with desktop mode on.
I'm weird about apps. It's not even a privacy thing really, I just never got into them as a concept.
Same
Blorp on a vanity instance :3
Browser. I hate apps, the greedy spying ones spoiled it for them all.
I checked Jerboa for trackers with Exodus and there are none. I doubt it'll change your mind (which is fine) but maybe it'll restore a small amount of your faith in humanity
I had bought the ad-free version of Boost before the Redditpocalypse, so I got the ad-free Lemmy Boost and have found it to be pretty great.
When I'm at my computer, I use the theme that looks like a dark mode of old reddit.
The bathroom
Connect on Android but I am logged in from the desktop if I want to post game screenshots.
The mobile app Connect for Lemmy.
I tried a handful of apps year ago when I started and this was the best at the time. And it has improved over time, to the point where it is better even than Reddit Is Fun was back in the day.
I always use the web app when possible and when not possible, I don't use the service at all.
F-Droid version of Jerboa, and apparently I'm the only one? 😛
How dare you!!!
Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1879 or Northern Conservative Baptist Great Lakes Region Council of 1912? 😛
You're not alone! I prefer using a desktop web browser, but when I'm on my phone it's F-Droid Jerboa.
Bathroom
Web, and its a Piefed server. I'm going to check out the available apps sometime, though.
Web browser from wherever I am at the time. Work, home, as a passenger in a car, at the park, at a restaurant...
Piefed through Connect on mobile. Voyager was throwing out of date errors since my phone is on a very old version of android.
Boost app. I have Voyager too but rarely use it. Very rarely use the website.
Welcome!
I'm using fedia.io (mbin) via my web browser on all platforms.
Sync for Lemmy
I was a long time Sync user (used it for years on Reddit before Lemmy) but it has been abandoned by the Dev. It hasn't been updated since Mar 2024. I got sick of all the little stuff that didn't work right and ended up moving to Voyager.
I have Voyager too I prefer the UI of Sync
Honestly, me too. I just didn't want to deal with the issues anymore.
Firefox.
Your mom's room.
Eternity. A rare one, judging by the rest of the comments.
From home mostly. Sometimes from public transport, or the shitter at work.
Mostly on mobile.
I switch between 3 apps because they each have features that I like.
Jerboa because I like to view user profiles and communities moderated
Voyager because I like the user tagging feature
Eternity because I prefer timestamp format instead of time elapsed format, and it reminds me of Infinity which was my preferred 3rd party app to browse reddit, when I used to do that.
If only I could have user profiles, user tags, and timestamps in one app...
Combination of phone (iOS - voyager) and desktop (arch btw, librewolf).
I use it from the toilet
I use the default interface in browser primarily, but I use Boost on my phone as well as Voyager.
I'm an old school geek. To me, an "app" is basically software running on a phone (in that context), or perhaps software running on a computer (although typically I'd use "application" there, but it depends. A small "application" might be an "app"). I know this is not universal. But for example, to me, reddit or Facebook or Lemmy is not an "app", it is a "website" that you can access via a browser or an app.
Also old nerd here. To me that would be an "applet." I miss applets.
Ah, haven't used "applet" in quite some time, but yes, definitely it was (and I support current use) :)
Mobile browser uazo/cromite
Browser (Web?)
Firefox on desktop and mobile. I use Photon frontend on my Piefed instance and Alexandrite on my Lemmy one.
interstellar with Mbin because it also supports mastodon
Sync for Lemmy. Sync for Reddit closed down with the closing of the api and the Sync maker said come here instead. So here I am.
Mobile when I'm away from home. Web when I'm at home.
Connect, mostly. Tho sometimes I use the pawb.social website from my PC. Physically, I use it pretty much everywhere except while driving/biking.
vger.app on desktop most of the time.
i started with some random one i dont remember but was customizable to the death. then voyager for a long time and now photon aswell. photon is kinda like voyager but imo with better defaults
I'm not using Lemmy at all.
I use mbin mostly through Interstellar on my phone, occasionally the desktop web interface.
desktop browser, on FF soley. because its much easier to use something like this. i dont use on mobile, because theres so little content already, i use it only during night time.
PieFed web UI on mobile
Same!
your mom
Your mom's house was right there
Currently, the living room. I’m accessing it via browser on my phone or ipad.
On mobile I use db0 Voyager pwa. on desktop I use old.lemmy.world but if db0 every set up that mlmym skin I'd use that on desktop
Blorp. I like how it pretty much looks exactly like the Reddit app. I never access this place on my PC just cause I see no reason to do so.
Earth. Mostly.
Blorp. Also, toilet.
Privately I use the F-Droid Version of Voyager on my phone. At work I'm committing time fraud via the browser.
Eternity
Voyager app on /e/OS - it's good and I made a donation to Voyager as well
Piefed. Its all the things I like. And the dev is awesome.
