The stops between New York and Miami Beach in 1984 were a gasoline paradise for my 13 year old self.
I didn't really realize at the time, but thinking back i remember the long wait cooking in that car in dazzling heat, like a virgin & when doves cry nonstop on the radio.
All these memories are drenched in a heavy gasoline stench, i can smell the smell right now, almost taste it.
petrol/gasoline is one of the most vile smelling substances known to man and i cannot understand why y'all enjoy huffing it so much.
also, in my experience, the longer you smell it, the less pronounced the scent is. so on a long drive buddy's '87 Daytona was leaking fuel from the feed line under the hood and we only noticed the leak after we were low on fuel. once we were stopped on the side of the road and and i stood up for the first time in a while i realised how fuckin high i was off of the fines. my memory is a bit hazy but i came-to rolling in a field of wheat when a cop showed up. he searched the car for drugs cus i was acting like a fool. after i had gotten enough fresh air and i was coming down from the gas fumes i had some terrible nausea and ever since the smell of gasoline makes me gag.

The other main way of synthetically making Vanillin is from Lignin which is way more sustainable and a byproduct of the paper production.
It can really be made from a lot of things since it's a realativly simple compound.
