Birthday Baddie Sandy turned 27 today!!!!

She got loads of attention from everyone and people wrote happy birthday messages on the barn announcement board. It made me so happy. I didn't get to spend as long as I wanted at the barn because I've had a tough day and it's hot outside. I made sure Sandy got the attention she deserves though and lots of treats.

My TBI symptoms are gone, thank goodness. I also was told my house insurance won't cover the foundation damage cause by a tornado spawning essentially on top of my house. The wind applied enough torque to twist my house slightly and it's beyond fucked.

I just want to get through the winter without the place falling into the ground. My dad wants to sign his place over to me when he goes to live the RV life in the spring, so if that happens, I can just sell my place to whoever the fuck will take it.

It's going to cost like over half the cost of the house to fix it. And that's only the foundation. There's a retaining wall that needs replaced, the erosion on the driveway from 10.5 inches of rain in a month needs filled on, my front porch is close to collapsing as is my patio roof, and a bunch of inside walls need fixed after the foundation gets fixed because they're cracking. Every day I notice more damage.

Yeah I grew up in a spot that still includes “acts of god” in insurance policies to explicitly cover things like that. Sorry to hear about this situation. For profit insurance companies are so toxic.

Sandy looks great and I’m glad your tbi cleared!

Oh my. That's a really tough situation. I'm so sorry to hear about your house. I hope it works out better than it started.

On another note, happy birthday to Sandy! Neat ribbon!! 🎠

Thank you so much! And the ribbon is so neat, ain't it lol. I had a joint bday party with my cousin this year and we both got "birthday baddie" sashes. Mine is going to be used exclusively for critter birthdays now.

Sorry to hear about the house. Be careful and safe! I don't know if its a good idea or not but might be worth checking with an attorney, just to make sure the insurance company isn't trying to pull a fast one.

Glad you got to spend some time with Sandy even with all that on your mind. You really are a wonderful person!

That definitely seems like something to fight and I know it's easy to just say that as a rando on the innernet. There are attorneys that specifically go after insurance for cases like this and a lot work on contingency so there's not an upfront cost to you

Happy Birthday Sandy!

Glad your head is doing better.

This is very serious. You need to talk to a lawyer about this asap. Some insurance companies will try to weasel out of paying claims but this very scenario is exactly why you have homeowners insurance. Major structural damage will make selling the house difficult if not impossible. If I were you, I would not let this go without a fight.

I plan on fighting it tooth and nail. My mom is buddies with a lawyer and I do that lawyer's firm's IT at work, so she may be able to help us or at least point us in the right direction.

We are starting with sending our 30 page evidence report to the insurance and adjusters and going from there. I'd rather not have to go to court because I can't afford it, but I will if it means I can get this whole mess taken care of.

I replied this to someone else earlier because I didn't see this one at first:

Also, I love Sandy's outfit! Way back when, we'd use this stuff https://www.twinkleglitter.com/shop/twinkle-toes called Twinkle Toes to make their hooves fancy! I'm amazed it's still around. I figured this was something you might like for Sandy :)

I’m sorry about your house and the insurance company sucking. Is there any way to appeal?
