What's your favorite new "retro" release

I've been slowly discovering new retro releases for Game Boy, NES, Sega Genesis and more, and been loving to try them out and supporting indi developers. Here are a few I found would love to see what your favorites are.

Walfie's Nonograms (GB): is absolutely amazing for a free game.

Echoes of the Unread (NES): just picked it up, and it looks like a fun platformer with a fun art style, good music, and a cool premise.

Do you count UFO 50? I've not even played all the games yet and I'd recommend it to anyone who's into retro games.

I wouldn't since it's not for a retro system, but since the community has ported it to the Linux handhelds, and it's compatible with the Retro Gaming line of Anbernic Handhelds, I'll allow it :P

I was really impressed and satisfied by Goodboy Galaxy, a GBA game recently released.

I've bought the physical Evercade edition and played on a Super Pocket for a nice retro experience.

It's not new anymore, but I really like Micro Mages, a vertical scrolling platformer that fits fully into an original 40KB NES cart and supports 4 player simultaneous co-op.

If you like Pokemon, Unbound is an awesome game that has a lot of quality of life features + an original story! I also love that they let you choose between Beldum (Metagross), Larvitar (Tyranitar), and Gible (Garchomp) for your starter!

I recently started playing Pokemon Unbound; my starter just evolved for the first time, and I'm having a blast. I nearly choked laughing when I finally understood what was going on in the first gym, can't believe I didn't get it immediately.

It should work perfectly fine at least with Vice both standalone and as Core in RetroArch/libretro. I mostly played it on real hardware and on my MiSTer FPGA so my testing in emulators is limited but I played it a few hours in Vice.

I don't see why it should not work in other C64 emulators.

Apotris is a super polished and customizable Tetris clone made for the GBA, though it also has native ports to desktops.

The other day one of my friends mentioned the SNES game The 7th Saga. We talked about how hard it was and despite all of us playing it back in the day, none of us ever beat it.

So, one thing leads to another and now we're in a race to see who can beat 7th Saga first. Most of us had old saves to pull from, so it's a shotgun start. I think I'm winning, but there's a long ways to go.

It could have been a great RPG if they had balanced the xp better. Each stage of the game REQUIRES at least 3 hours of non stop grinding before you can move on to the next town/dungeon.

You’re getting downvoted because 7th Saga came out in the standard lifecycle of the SNES. It was for sale in stores back then.

The games were trying to discuss were made more recently. Full Quiet, Dungeons and Doomknihghts, Traumatarium, Glory Hunters, such like that.
