Israel should have handled that way more elegant. See theres just a bunch of teens on a boat, seize it, invite them to some kind of PR Dinner with a diplomat of some sort and deport them home with a huge handling fee. Treat them nice with a fat bill. Sun Tzu would be proud. Instead they do this...
People don't understand Israel is at total war with everyone. If they're friendly to you, it's because you're low on the list and they're using you and collecting kompromat/info on you. If you're higher on the list they're bombing and shooting your children.
This is all part of the "Never again to us" mentality, for this they're a horrible and derranged country. They're fascists, and don't stop at Palestine, they've already "settled" areas of Syria and Lebanon.
They're despicable, bad neighbours, and cannot be trusted, even by allies.
Israel is the country of rape, torture and genocidal mass murder. That's its reputation in the world now, and we all see it clearly.

This is a country that proudly raped prisoners in Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay.
It's a country that believes prison rape within the state system is part of the punishment for criminality. Literally "don't drop the soap" used as a threat aimed at people accused of crimes.
Old enough to remember how D.A.R.E. officers would recount sexual assault in prisons as a means of scaring people off drug use. Americans deeply and indelibly believe in the power of corrective rapes. It is embedded in our culture.

People forget this but Israel was founded with Genocide. Against Jews during the holocaust, yes, but also against Arabs in the region during the Nakba, so that the Zionists could carve out their ethnostate. This is not new behavior for them. They've literally been doing this for decades.

To respond to your edit: rape was accurate, even with the pretense of a strip search. Do not tell us what she meant. You are trivializing what happened to her.
The victim and the article distinguish between the already-illegal strip search and the sexual assault.
I hate the lax use of the term too. but that one incident really was that.
