How much confidence does it take to walk into the ocean? The stakes seem pretty low to me. Now, if that had been a furnace like that other Bible story then we'd be cooking, literally and metaphorically.

What confidence? He didn't even see it through. God would have parted the sea for him if he had held his ground. He just didn't have enough faith, that's all.

He was weak of faith... Should have stood his ground with true faith, only then would it have parted but the devil prayed on his lack of conviction and made him run /s
