my backlog has like 400 games now, i will not buy anything this sale...
Me when I lie
i got to work on my backlog!
Go back to my 300hr save on Factorio
Noob
Get stuck on Gleba again.
And now your game library has a function where you can easily pull up all the unplayed titles too.
Same, coming up on three years without a Steam purchase for me. Stay strong! :D
5 euros for the entire Metro series (2033, Last Light, Exodus, plus the expansions) is insane.
The first two games were already given away before multiple times for free. Not that surprising but good for anyone who missed those.
I still miss the steam sale delivery girl
You can download a Steam Deck intro video where Game Mode boots up with her walking up to deliver a package.
Yeah, but I already have the spooky scary Skeletons one. I should check to see of I can have a random one play each time, that must be an option.
Yeah, same here honestly. I miss her too
are you really into 13 yo girls?
It's hard for me to justify buying anything since my job is so crap. I have the money, I just feel spiteful and angry at capitalism.
you hiring?
You atleast have a job :\
I've already got it, but Dishonored is $1.99 USD, and definitely worth it for ten times that amount even after all these years.
Got the Dead Space remake for 6 bucks. I need to stop buying games … my backlog is big enough
While true, it's an amazing remake and definitely worth 6 bucks
That is literally the only game I'm even interested in from EA (that I don't already own one way or another), but the thought of paying them any amount of money is giving me the Nesquik rabbit testicular torsion.
what're you sellin?
is that all stranger?
HEHH HEHH HIHH HEH... thank you...
My desktop is sluggish
My backlog too long
RAM price too high
KNICKS IN FIVE!!!!!
The Binding of Isaac + all DLC is like $5. Definitely jumping on that.
I have the original one and I might just do this to get it to work well on the deck. The OG version is kinda janky control wise.
Ah glad you mentioned that because I had the base game on my wishlist and saw it for under $2 and just added that.
But now, looking more closely, I'm a bit confused. I see the DLC bundles, but only one of the DLCs (other than the soundtrack) has a price, though the others are a mix of Free and N/A. Going into bundle details does show a price for the N/A ones but I'm just confused about what's going on there. Are the DLCs only available through the bundles and that's why they don't have their own prices unless you dig a bit?
Anyways, they are all 90% off.
Though with the way valve handles bundles, at least it isn't really an issue, whatever is going on. It's refreshing that they don't try to nickel and dime you and even warn you if you have a game in a cart when a bundle with that game is cheaper (because you already have the other games and it still gives you the bundle discount without needing to buy those games again).
I think I’m gonna pick up Little Kitty Big City and I don’t care who judges me for it!
Edit: I bought it. Finally sat down with it this rainy weekend and played for 4 hours straight and had a blast. It’s so good. 😻
It’s SUCH a good game! I loved it
That’s fantastic to hear! ❤️
Stray is the best cat game, but big city is great too
Oh yeah, played the crap out of stray too! Just can’t go wrong with a decent cat game.
Dishonored 1 full collection for 2 EUR?
DAMN!
I might buy it for some friends and maybe even a few give aways....
Clustertruck for 3 EUR?
YES! Brilliant game, I'll might pick up a few codes for later dispersal....
Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trillogy for 16 EUR?
Good price, I highly recommend it!
Half Life 2 for 2 EUR?
Nice, good time to pick it up if you haven't played it!
Horizon Zero Dawn for 30 EUR, decent price, nothing amazing, but worth it!
Party Hard for 2 EUR is brilliant!
Fantastic game, highly recommended!
Thank you for mentioning party hard! I think I had that back on my Xbox a decade ago. Time to try it again
There is even a sequel, Party Hard 2, not a super fan personally, I find the original better.
Nothing, I moved to GOG, who is also having their Summer Sale.
They call it the SS over there.
One little mistake and everyone is calling you a Nazi…
It was a series of related bad mistakes. Not just one.
Ooooof
No Dave the Diver on gog yet unfortunately
What have you scored over there? I picked up WallWorld, Oblivion, and Rôki.
Nothing, yet. I getg paid next week XD
Thankully it will still be running, could do with a few new games, though I'm aiming for things with native Linux ports mostly even if there are otehrs I would rather play just to support ditching Microslop and not relying on Valve to make everything work.
The only one I have my eye on (for now) is Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and basically because it never gets discounted.
Could be fun to punch a few Nazis, even if only digitally.
And not just punching, but full-on wind up and let it rip homerun swings with a shovel to the face (which goes CLANG!! and breaks the shovel) just never got old. Highly recommend!
Wolfenstein?
::: spoiler More obscure games
Mewgenics is awesome.
Fell off
Well I think nier is at the best price it's been right now
Not quite best, but it's the same price it basically always discounts to.
I've been playing through the first Hollow Knight and don't know why I slept on it for so long (but am glad I did as I get to currently experience it).
I loved that game, I 100%'d it. Not sure about achievements though, those kinds of games usually have dumb achievements (looking at you Ori with the speed run and no hit achievements)
Scored me:
Not a bad haul
RDR2! I was actually willing to pay full price for it just a week ago because I need a chill open world game to play after getting my wisdom teeth pulled next week. But then I saw No man's Sky in my library and got distracted playing that so I didn't buy RDR2. That was very lucky. I'll have to see which one ends up being the game I actually play.
I also picked up Half-Life Alyx. It's actually kinda surprising that I haven't played it yet after like 5 years of owning a VR headset, but I never played Half-Life 1 or 2 so I felt like I probably wouldn't have the context to really get it. I might finally get to playing those two soon so having Alxy ready to go makes sense!
Alyx really uses the VR very well, easily the best VR game I have played. Bonus that it is actually interesting on top of being good at VR.
2 awesome games :) I really enjoyed both years ago. Alyx is the best VR action game I've played.
Hoping to snag a Frame when they come out so I can finally play HL Alyx.
Rain World has been on my list for a while and it's currently 90% off, cheapest it has been since 2023. Definitely picking that up.
Check the bundles first, that 90% off may drop it to a whopping $1.87 if you own the other games.
Indeed, that is how I plan to buy it! (Though a little more, in CAD)
Oh fair, sometimes I forget currencies exist and just think of things in “nebulous currency amount”.
I've wishlisted it On GoG where it's only 55% off. I wonder how they decide how much to reduce based on the stores?
Idk, Dyson Sphere Program maybe. Been playing the shit out of Satisfactory recently.
DSP is great, def worth it if you like Satisfactory.
I also love Timberborn. It hits some of the same gameplay notes but with a very different vibe.
if you use more than one computer, watch out that you can't play the same savegame on both
Seemingly nothing. Discounts on the items on my wishlist are rather mild.
Sales are looking really mid again. I skipped the Winter and Spring sales entirely.
I picked up God Of War: Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 because the current sales are the lowest I’ve seen them. More than I usually pay for games but I know I’ll enjoy them.
Besides that I picked up a few cheap DLCs for games I play or will play in the near future.
My cart currently (although I'm not sure I'll pull the trigger on all of them):
Also looking at Trepang2, Hell Is Us and ROUTINE but I'm not sure they're my vibe at the moment.
wanted: dead is great fun and very short - finished on normal my playtime is 13 hours and i died a lot. there's some minigames and new game+ to squeeze some extra out of it if you want
Would you say Normal was a fun challenge or would you recommend just playing on Easy? I've heard some not great things about the game's balance.
it's been a little while but apart from some spikes at bosses i'd say the difficulty curve is U shaped, as you get the hang of combat and unlock abilities from the skill trees the mid game might get boring on easy. it ramps up near the end but if you die enough times in a row the game will ask you on the continue screen if you want to drop the difficulty, so i'd say start on normal
Thanks!
Got Absolum. Not the biggest discount, but I played the demo some time back and it kept lingering in my mind. Really looking forward to play co-op with my wife.
Mina the Hollower, and it's not even on sale. And I still feel smart, looking over the shit on sale in my wishlist
I had already pirated and played through Pathfinder :WOTR, and since it was heavily Discounted (600rs=around $4) I finally bought iy with all the dlc.
I'm not yucking anyone's yum, just noticing how the only game I was interested in isn't on sale, yet it's good enough that I'm not even annoyed
Oh man!!! didn't know that I replied to your comment. I was commenting on the post.
Ha lol no worries
I was waiting for the sale to buy Elden Ring or DS3. Been wanting to replay them, this time with mods. But it seems they skipped this sale... of course they did.
Considering Grim Dawn and / or Binding of Isaac Rebirth.
Binding of Isaac is a great game, go for it!
Isaac is fantastic. With all the expansions, it's hundreds of hours of goodness.
Grim Dawn didn't really click with me. None of the classes I tried felt good, and the constellations stuff is hard to work with. There's a lot of options scattered around, and I feel like I have to read and dozens of things to plan out a coherent build. Or use a guide, which is un-fun.
Path of Exile 2 is my current arpg
After my first 50 hours of grim dawn, I discovered there is a filter field on the constellation map, allowing you to see the constellations that buff a specific characteristic/competence 🤦🏼♂️
Huh. I did not know this. It might make it a little easier to navigate! It'd still be a lot of options spread out in a weird way, but a filter could help.
I really loved grim dawn, I did a summoner build and had a great time then suddenly hit a wall in difficulty where the A.I. ignored my pets and assassinated me making my build completely unusable. But it was a great 20 hours, felt like my first Diablo 2 run where you just completely fuck up your build but enjoy it anyway
Nothing is really jumping out to me.
I may do another run of cyberpunk during rainy season since it's about all my PC can do and upgrading is basically impossible right now.
I just finished my ~yearly run of Skyrim (with mods other than just skyui for the first time this time).
I used to play a lot of 7 Days, but they lost me when they started adding triggers in POIs that automatically alerted zombies, opened doors, etc. and TFP's general bullshit after that.
The only other two games I've played this year are Last Caretaker (it was alright but had too many performance issues and bugs at the time), and Peglin which I'm also kinda over.
Congrats, you are well on your way to becoming the type of person that spends 6 weeks making a skyrim modlist instead of playing the game, launching it for 15 minutes to make sure everything works, and then losing interest in the game after a day or two.
I recently found out about a mod called Sentinel, and holy hell is it exactly what I needed to actually enjoy the cool looking but blatantly overpowered Creation Club armors.
It's soooo bad lol. I stopped playing around the same time, and I had almost 1,000 hours in the game. I get it, they needed a way to optimize performance, especially in large cities, and having the zombies hiding in air ducts unloaded until you trigger them is certainly a way to do it. But fuck is it immersion breaking and purely unfun. It doesn't feel like a zombie apocalypse when I'm standing in a city blasting my gun and there's like 4 zombies walking around to actually hear it.
Cyberpunk is one of the moste demanding games out there btw.
Yeah, I can't play it with very high settings. My PC is probably about 6-8 years old and has no upgrades (and wasn't bleeding edge when I built it, but not horrible either)
I guess we have different needs :). I can play current gen releases(still fuck unreal 5 and itshorrbile optimization) with relatively good framerates on high/ custom settings, but cyberpunk has been unplayable for me since launch because of cpu requirements and my personal bottom line on performance& visuals. Wanted to upgrade last year, now im just going through the stuff i already have. (Summer sale got me though). Just got back into Zweih: The Ilvard Insurrection, a game thats been resting for what feels like a decade in my steam library. Starts out even better than the first part and im more hyped for the game than anything new triple a & jrpgs ive played in recent times.
I knew a discount on 007 First Light would be a long shot, but I'm not paying full price on it given the arbitrary locking of functionality behind an internet connection. I thought Pragmata would be on sale by now for sure, but it isn't. So I only ended up getting Death Stranding 2.
I trust you're checking Is There Any Deal... Pragmata has had pretty consistent $10 off from other Steam key stores, including Fanatical right now.
I'm not in that big of a rush, and I like having Steam's refund policy at my disposal. I'm sure both Pragmata and 007 will have a sale by the end of the year.
Spent 40$ on a bunch of older games and some more Niche Stuff I’ve been wanting. I also picked up Cave Story after a friend suggested it. I’ve been eyeing the RE4 Remake but I still need to beat 2. Overall went over my budget by 15$
I'm enjoying MythMatch, the expanded match 3 gameplay and remixed Greek mythology are really fun!
I also just picked up Thank Goodness You're Here!, which is delightfully weird.
I love a good match 3! Thanks for the recommendation!
Here's some mostly small game suggestions I wrote up for a hidden gems thread elsewhere :)
Yes I Know I Play a Lot of Roguelites:
More Shooting Things but Not Scrolling Shmups:
Now Some Scrolling Shmups:
A Little Less Shooting:
Some Always-Cheap Mentionables that Tend to Skip Sales and are Unsurprisingly Not Discounted this Time Either (aka Oh Look There were More Shooting Things After All):
I should play the games I got last time.
I'm only buying dlc for games I already have.
I just saw that you can get the remastered collection of Command & Conquer Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert for 4 EUR, brilliant!
Trying to decide between Abyssus and Jump Space. Mostly trying to figure out if my friends will have any free time for the forseeable future to play it, since we started getting back into Payday 2 after spending a long while on Vintage Story
Definitely Detention. My friend told me it’s a really good indie game that takes place in Tawain. I will probably also likely get the rest of the God Of War games and Spiderman 2.
I grabbed Mina the Hollower. After finishing 007 First Light this evening, I feel like that will be a good game to follow up with. And will be a nice deck game when I want to play in bed
Other than that it is a back log kinda year(and playing my brother's games through family sharing)
I've got Astralbringer (crazy mouse shmup, not actually on sale but that dev prices low and doesn't really do Steam sales), Shikhondo: Blue Pieta (horizontal scrolling shmup), Revo (fast kinda janky gallery shmup), and Beyond Solar (scrolling shmup). I'm looking into Star Vortex and Star Solar (both space ARPGs). (Edit: Went with Star Vortex :).
So kinda tame sale, and I've obviously been feeling pretty shmuppy lately (and I've got a loooot of those already to play :), but I've also got Denshattack release to look forward to on the 15th, depending on price.
No Summer Sale complaints here. Saw several games I often price check around sales take nice drops this time, so deals are out there.
Finally, it’s about time
https://steamdb.info/sales/history/
Cuboid Keeper was already on my wishlist and showed up as the cheapest game at 1.59 CAD. Notable because it currently has a 100% positive rating (though only 11 reviews). Released in 2019, too. I added the game to my wishlist because the same people (person? Website seems to suggest it's just one guy) made Eventide Matter, a short space resource gathering/building/upgrading game.
FYI, Cuboid Keeper plays poorly on controller, and can't run with Steam Input at all. If you play on KBM, it's ok, but otherwise it's just brokenly designed and not getting fixed because the dev doesn't care anymore.
I play a lot of top-down and twin-sticks, so there might be something for you here: https://infosec.pub/post/48529166/22456105
Ah that sucks, I like KBM but it seems like a good controller candidate as it just needs two vectors (movement and aiming) plus two buttons (at least as far as I got so far, there's only main fire and secondary fire). Sounds like something that shouldn't even take long to implement with steam input.
I actually just used steam input for the first time yesterday and thought you might be referring to the same thing as it was annoying during the process of figuring out the correct setup. It's a Nintendo layout but was being detected as an Xbox layout, so all the buttons were reversed. Either that or Binding of Isaac deliberately set up the controls to be counter-intuitive and my using steam input to remap to more intuitive controls is cheating lol. And it didn't help that I had another controller that also identifies as an xbox controller and spent some time remapping that one and wondering why it wasn't doing anything in the game before I noticed it was being picked up (but doesn't really function so I didn't even realize it was still plugged in).
Shouldn't, but the thing is, you move all around the screen in that game. You can't make a mouse region for the aiming to get a direction unless the character stays at center or there's always a clear line through center to the reticle. When the character just moves all around like that, there's just no way to connect something to the direction from the character. You have to mouse aim on absolute position or use 8-way aiming on keys as your only character-relative option (what are we here, cavemen?).
The real problem is just that one of your critical gameplay actions is stopping shooting. Easily handled if you have a shoot button, like mouse, but controller only shoots on RS tilt, which means moving RS into the deadzone becomes a critical defensive action. You could work around that but you can't use Steam Input and controller-mode, so not even the option of having Steam use a big dead zone.
What you can do (I actually just got this to work!), is use Steam Input to mask the controller before starting the game, and then cursor key around through menus to the settings and toggle the "Enable Controller" button all on keyboard (hard to get it to mouse with a controller around). Once you get that saved and staying disabled, you can use a controller-free Steam Input config without the game switching to controller on its own.
So, I spoke too soon before. You actually should be able to play on a deck, because the trackpad will sub in nicely for mousing. Much better than the RS I have on a regular controller, but now I can at least play half-controller, half-mouse. Awkward, but better than either separately for me.
Probably Soul Hackers 2. I know it's considered to not be particularly good, but I like the aesthetic and it's cheap enough that I don't mind trying it.
And it's shit… agaaaaa-in 🎶
FR, 30 games on my list, only 6 hit their historical lows, and 2 of which I had already decided they're too high for me anyway.
24 either didn't go on sale or didn't hit their historical low.
I grabbed The Ninja Gaiden Master Collection (Fuck Sigma, I'm in it for NG3RE), Blue Revolver (Like, fine I suppose I'm running out of shmups, so I'll try and figure out what put me off about it the first time), Counterclocking (I'll support any new action game), and Carter's Quest (I'll support any new action game)
Why does it need to be historical low?
Because people hate devs being rewarded for their work.
anything that looks fun, and isn't some aaa garbage slop.
if the discount is 50% or more, I also won't touch it under the assumption there's 700dlcs, season passes, and 4 stores within the game.
Is that a super common occurrence? Sure, that may happen sometimes, but I can't say I have seen it so often that it can just be assumed whenever I see a high discount.
No, it is not.
Just block Paradox and you've removed 90% of them.
You can see the DLCs on the store page before buying, there's no surprises.
cant you refund the game if it has 700 dlcs, season passes and 4 stores?
so many amazing games have discounts of over 50%
currently, terraria, celeste, and rabbit and steel are discounted and are all amazing games with no dlcs or stores that use irl currencies
