I recall seeing an article talking about how baby formula companies offered free formula to deeply impoverished new mothers in some African countries. After the mothers went long enough without breastfeeding, they'd stop producing, making them dependent on buying more formula.
we had to adopt the cat (4 cats ago) that bonded closest to me at 5 weeks. i bottle fed her. i miss her the most of all the cats who have passed. her mom licked the wrong bucket at the neighborhood crack den.
yea, obviously if you're at home breast-feeding, then you're not buying as much formula for whomever is tending the baby while you're at work.
i always thought it was funny how people will feed their baby some synthetic formula, but as the kid grows up then they insist on cow's milk instead of some alternative
The milk doesn't just appear out of thin air. Lactating moms need to eat a lot more to produce it. Someone out there is profiting from that extra food.
Yeah plus whoever makes lanolin, nipple shields, nursing bras and tops, burp cloths, pump parts, and then eventually therapists i assume, because I'm breast feeding rn and it's making me a freakin crazy person. I need more sleep.
