However, my view is that the best time for socialism (anarcho-communism) is all the time, i.e. there would be no point waiting for a "Great Depression", because capitalism is a system of death and destruction, so intentionally allowing it to continue is a form of human sacrifice.

It's an alternate history story (in which the PoD (point of divergence) is 1901 when William McKinley didn't get assassinated) about the US becoming a socialist country during the Great Depression.
