Haha how cute and adorable to lie to your spouse and betray their trust rather than being an adult and talking to them! 🥰

You don't know know the whole story, and you don't know Torties. Humans are not consulted in these matters. I've lived with five Torties, and never paid for, or even asked for, a single one. There's a third Tortie in their future, trust me.

lemmy.today

Sure is. Humans have been trying to control it throughout history, to no avail. The cats are just so much smarter than us.

  1. We're not on Reddit...
  2. What's wrong with emoji? 🤨

Lol. I jump between the two so got confused there I see.

Nothing wrong with emojis. But there is something wrong with doing this 😂😂😂😅🤣🤣

Wait, you... didn't know this wasn't Reddit, despite all the different instance domains in every person's comment? Do you use some kind of fusion Reddit+Lemmy app or something? This is really interesting to me, how that was even possible to happen.

i don't read ppls names on this... i could see how you'd assume you were on reddit

3

Ha, fair. I'm always reading usernames (since some of them can be clever), instances, and communities.

I use Relay for Reddit and Summit for the fediverse. I especially picked Summit because it is very similar in look, feel, use and features as Relay, which I already really enjoyed using.

Huh, ironically, I left Summit partly because I found its search system to be too obtuse and it had some pretty bad account-switching problems as well, even though it sure has a lot of capabilities. Theming the apps helps, though ultimately it boils down to reading the domain names of the instances (and usernames) since I'm always curious about the sources of content. I even set Thunder for Lemmy (which also seems to have a very robust draft system in the event of app crashes) to show "@" in front of usernames and "!" in front of communities to drill it home since that formatting is different from Reddit, so I see it all over the place.

If FOSS matters to you, consider Slide for Reddit! Otherwise, Relay looks decent... I'm surprised it was able to get past that API restriction drama that Reddit's leadership imposed...

1

Relay payed up. It's a payed app for users. Shamefully I pay more to Spaz than the Relay dev team.

Summit also has the @ etc in user names etc. but you see ADHD is a hell of a thing and I just don't can't notice those things when reading comments.

There are some really weird emoji though, e.g. what's are these ones for 🫨🕳️🫟🧱📛💠 I cannot work out what emotion or concept these particular symbols are supposed to indicate.

The only ones I ever really find useful are the hand gestures the facial expressions (although God knows what that first one is supposed to be), and the national flags.

There's also some Japanese character ones which I assume might be useful if I knew what they said.

1

Highly agree. 👌👍🖕🤔😑🤭

That's nearly it.
Some very special cases can occur though where I might use 😱or 🤷.

Otherwise it's usually just :) or ;). But damn Microsoft for automatically changing them to emojis.

1

The first one there is a shaking emoji. Perhaps it could be used in response to an earthshaking news or something. I'm sure you could run searches of all of these and get the exact text descriptions from the official, global emoji standard.

... and then report back to us, lol!

It plays so much into: i'm such a quirky girl and my husband is so dumb, it's a prime reddit give me gold story

15

I'm shocked that you're both expressing the same view, yet have opposite comment scores, haha.

Having enjoyed the company of Charlotte (pictured below) for seven years, I spotted it within a second and I'm not generally very visually observant 😄

6

"has ears, tail, fur. Some of the latter is black but not all of it" seems to be enough in this case.

I, a tortie enjoyer but not generally very visually observant, spotted the difference in facial markings within a literal second and would have done it within 10 even if I DIDN'T know there was differences to look for lol

The best part I choose to believe is that this cats conspired to never be seen together.

Husband found a gf who uses the same perfume as the wife. She's yet to figure it out.

37

At least there are two cat clones so you don't have to chop the one in half and split it.

sh.itjust.works

How did she keep them apart? All the cats we've ever had hung out together a lot.

And it takes months for them to stop hating each other enough to stop growling

17
piefed.social

Maybe they were identical so they didn't realise there was another cat in the house until much later after a freak accident with them walking into the same room with a mirror on the floor.

I have two cats from the same litter a male and a female, and my next door neighbour has a cat that looks exactly like them. Their friends, and I'm not entirely convinced that the more stupid of the two hasn't realised that the neighbours cat isn't his sister. He's deadly afraid of my car keys, so I wouldn't put anything past him.

All three are tuxedo cats.

Orange cats occasionally get access to the brain cell, a luxury that is sadly not afforded to Ted.

1

Or... Your husband discovered the 2nd cat the day after you got it, got rid of it, and you never noticed.

That computer in the background is giving me anxiety.

How do people function with organization like that?

16

I look at my desktop so little I just treat it as a folder for things that need be temporarily stored. The fact it appears on the screen behind whatever I have open is a non-issue.

Because windows doesn't arrange by penis.

I know it's a Mac.

I can’t tell if this is a typo, 2007 era joke, or a reference to something else.

Did you mean to type “penis” here???

Edit: I have been educated and reviewed the literature, and awarded the OP my upvote.

It's just how Mac uses seem to lay things out. It's always a desktop full of icons.

3

Hm... Is that just because of the type of users who use macs, or is it an indictment of Mac OS's file management user friendliness?

2

It’s true, but these days Macs will let you collapse your desktop items in to a single icon by file type.

I also recently learned to use Stage Manager and it’s pretty sweet.

2

This is how iPhones always look to me too, and it's always mind boggling... This is what people want their phone's home screen to look like? Really?

1

My desktop is like that. Code repos are tightly structured. There are warring instincts going on.

2

Yeah, I stopped using desktop icons altogether somewhere around Windows 7 days.

Nowadays I can't stand having anything on my desktop (linux)

The time our tortie died and we went to the cat shelter and came back with another tortie.

Pretty sure dude just went along with it
But he's told his buddies and they think shes nuts now. I dont blame them, i mean who thinks they can fool their husband isn't thinking two Americans is one? There are four lights, hello.

2
piefed.ca

Nah, I have met quite a few people that care so little about the goings on in their house they would not infact notice there were 2 torties in their house unless both cats were in the same side of the room.

5

In that case, they've already checked out of their marriage to the point where they're basically just flatmates.

3
lemmus.org

Those cats are similar enough that they would need to be in the same room at the same time to be sure that there are actually 2 of them.

1

I had what I thought was one stray that lived near my house. Turns out there was 2 of them that looked nearly identical I found this out when both of them were there

3
piefed.ca

I personally would disagree, since one of them has a giant orange splotch on their face and the other doesn't, but i also do like cats and am probably autistic ¯\(ツ)
