I'm tired of humanity

All of it, war, business, technology, religion, the hustle and bustle, economy blah blah blah. Fuck man, stop. Its like... All bad. I've got this little window in my pocket that gives me a 30,000 foot view of what humans are doing on earth and on the whole? Its mostly bullshit. Fucking exhausting man. Chill the fuck out. So many of the issues we're grappling with as a species feel either self imposed or because we are arguing over what god or flag we believe in. So often it all feels pointless. Its tiring, I'm tired and I can't seem to look away from the multiple slow moving train wrecks barrelling towards us all and how knotted up we are about shit that doesn't seem important. I don't think it should be this complicated. Eat, sleep, get some play, work when you have to. Cmon man, cool it. Happy earth day, thanks for humoring my whining.

You aren't tired of humanity, you are tired of the evils that men do. It's an important distinction. There is still good out there, I promise. I won't say something stupid like, "You just have to look for it." I'll just remind you that it's there. Maybe that's enough. Just a little hope. And, if in your travels you do come across some good, save it. Bookmark it. Send it to a friend. Spread the good.

Yeah, shit at large sucks. Try to find yourself a distraction from the screen. Make art, or music, cook something wild, write, volunteer for your community, go into nature (if you have some within your travel abilities) and just be. Obviously this is not an all inclusive list, but just a few suggestions. Hobbies are what make us human. We need beauty to heal us from all the ugly that surrounds us.

I'm planning on a massive heart attack at 70. That's all y'all motherfuckers are getting out of me

Im sorry you are feeling this way.

More importantly, I am sorry that you are being made to feel this way.

I have found some solace in volunteering and reading. I take some of the time that I dedicated to TV and doomscrolling to something without an internet connection.

The wild thing is this: you feel more connected when the wifi is down.

If you find a quiet place without that bullshit let me in.

I am afraid though at a certain point the bullshit will start there too

No problemo friend. I was thinking/feeling these same things earlier today. Feels like everything is moving in the wrong direction and all we can do is watch. I don't want to talk about this shit with my friends cuz I don't want to bring them down so I scream into the void of the internet instead.

gives me a 30,000 foot view of what humans are doing on earth

I kind of doubt we're getting that

Yeah? And what does it mean? To me the idea seems to be that the internet freely gives us a broadly accurate high level picture (if lacking detail) of how the world works, and that a casual judgment made from this vantage point is meaningful. I am very skeptical of all of that, the sense of being informed that people get from watching a lot of news media is mostly fake.

My experience of the world through screens and through my own lived experience could not be more different. Online the world is on fire but locally everything is great.

You reached the end
