Their fucking defense attorney is claiming he's less culpable due to autism and fetal alcohol syndrome

45

In situations like this I can't blame the lawyers too much for being desperate, legally someone has to defend him and if that's the best they got they roll with it

36

If he actually has FAS that could reduce his culpability, as he likely has a lower IQ and significantly impaired judgement and impulse control.

I don’t see how autism would factor in.

Either way I would have been happier without reading this horror story.

That's great! Someone legally has to show his best chance at defending himself for the process to be fair. If that is their best defense, great news, he's fucked.

FAS might be able to convince jury to lower sentences, im not so sure about autism. because FAS of various degrees can significantly affect cognitive function, or intelligence.

Hell to the no. Autism and fetal alcohol related brain damage is no excuse - like at all.

For the yankies, this is the type of person we hold INDEFINITELY in Europe, which is tantamount to life, as they are studied by psychiatric experts from around the world. Once studies have concluded, decades later, they are just usually held until death - if not sent somewhere at an age where they pose no threat to anyone anymore, the benchmark being posing a threat to children.

No one has a right to take a life. Not this monster, nor the state. And also, the Epstein class needs to get the same treatment.

Hold the front door. Are you suggesting that people with money and influence need to be held accountable as well?

11

Confiscate the money and confine those involved. It's a complicit coverup of life destroying proportions.

That's why you put them in the box as well, study them and let them live out their lives in humane accommodation.

That's a dude the death penalty might be too good for.

He should go into genpop in jail. The thieves, murderers and rapists will know what to do with a child killer.

generally I'm against the death penalty and texas's inhumane criminal justice system.

but here... put him in genpop and let them take care of it. and I say that as someone who firmly believes our entire justice system is broken and for profit prisons should be emptied, but holy hell, when they have the video and a confession.....

It is their job and duty to provide the best defense they can manage and everyone deserves that.
