LPT: Fast Orange mechanic's hand cleaner is apparently awesome at cleaning smoke soot off of salvage items from vehicle or home fires.
Both bottles came from the same vehicle fire, and both were equally black with soot. I cleaned the larger bottle with the product itself, about to go clean the smaller bottle, just figured I'd share the comparison, the stuff works great for fire soot!

It's a mild acid powder that you add water to it's good for scrubbing metals. It will remove coatings on some pots and pans.
I just found out that just a dab of Fast Orange is also great at getting stains off of coffee cups 👍
but those stains are old friends
Bar Keepers Friends is so great. Removed burned in stuff from a pot, relatively easily.
I love that shit in general, as well as lava soap. I think there's a similar goop product as well
I use Murphy's Oil Soap, full strength, straight out of the bottle, on a terrycloth towel, to clean dirty old guitars. It cleans them right up, and gives the finish a beautiful shine.
People debate all sorts of expensive products, but a tiny bit of Murphy's will clean an entire guitar, and a whole bottle will last a LONG time, and it's cheap.
I love that shit. Apparently in mechanics' circles there are similar products out there, and a bunch of people bicker online about how it's not as good as some other products out there. I saw this video a few years back, but it didn't sway me. Fast Orange has been great to me.

Nah, it really didn't take much, just enough to clean your hands anyways. The big bottle was brand new and full, the small bottle was empty and about to go in the trash.
Once I saw how well the big bottle cleaned up, I changed my mind of tossing the old empty bottle. Instead, I cleaned it up and split the Fast Orange between the bottles. One for the apartment, one for the vehicle..
Lava soap is also amazing and cheap
