If you're in public and a stranger pulls up their phone to film you, it's likely that you're doing either something very brave or very stupid. Possibly both.
I'd say that's a good moment to take a breath and check whether this applies before proceeding.
(This obviously doesn't apply for celebrities.)

I suggest a third option: something funny.
I've seen some funny recordings that were neither brave nor stupid, just hilarious.
But still, might be a good time to assess if they are laughing with you or at you.
Funnily enough (pardon the pun) I thought about putting the option in, but my personal perception is that people being filmed doing funny stuff are not usually filmed by strangers. Slapstick doesn't count, or rather, I tend to file that under "stupid".

Apparently in San Diego, there's a thing that's been happening (according to other social media) where people will film or photograph other random people when they're just sitting there or waking by or something. I don't get it but it's supposed to be a commentary or something.
