Definitely prefer the old site. The extra production value actually somehow makes it less charming for me.

The footnote on the page says they want to revive the original content, but need to find/buy it from the content's copyright owner first.

They’ll have a hard time considering the original music was never released and made specifically for Zombo. For my own gain, I pulled it from IA and used Ableton to extract stems so now I have just the (very low quality) music on its own :)

It’s possible it no longer works with modern web standards. Used to just play a song on a blank page.

Anyone who uses suno for any amount of time will clock that as an ai generated song

3

Reading the page edit history it looks like the "stolen" claim is coming from a now deleted reddit post, hence the no citation.

Sad to see the old Zombo.com go, but this new jingle is legitimately a fucking banger.

11

No kidding. For anyone else who might wait 5 minutes for it to load, just unmute it. It starts playing immediately.

Literally on the website:

Welcome to… New Management. This domain was purchased openly via GoDaddy. We come in peace (and with a wallet): we’d love to also purchase the rights to the former site's content to help revive the infinite. Until then, everything here is new & unique. Old content rights owners, please reach out. Anything is possible.

It sounds like the old owners allowed their domain ownership to expire. So someone with an interest in keeping it alive bought the domain and threw up something similar, since they didnt have the original. They are trying to reach the original owners to enable them to host the original content.

No... They came with their wallet, and are attempting to purchase the rights so they can monetize it. They'll put ads all over it.

If they just wanted to preserve it, they'd hold the domain and keep it pointing at the original server and offer to give the domain back. They want to preserve its fanfare but they want to own it.

There's nothing peaceful about this.

If it is that easy, why don't you prove it by purchasing zombo.comm and reviving the original? Anything is possible

1

Uhh, okay?

I'm not saying I want to save it, I don't give a shit about either of them.

I'm just reading the new guy's message...

It’s an old parody site. It’s making fun of the old dial-up era Flash sites that had insane load times just to show a basic webpage. Once you wait for the entire loading bar, it just has a link to sign up for their newsletter… Which doesn’t exist. It has been around for literal decades now.

sigh

Everything's either changing or closing. Where are the sites filled with wonder we all grew up with from the early days of the internet?

meatspin.com

lemonparty.com

tubgirl.com

rotten.com

Oh man. I used to leave zombo on in the background of my work pc years ago. All night until someone would inevitably shut down the pc or pull the audio in the morning

You reached the end
