Wow. That is so clear. You can see the agent watch the gun pulled from the back and once it was removed the agent shot him.

96

and he’s even aiming for a good moment, it’s not that he upholstered and inadvertently gave off a shot, he did pull the trigger in a conscious and determined action

Sorry im out of the loop on this, was it a gun or a phone? Is NYT saying phone?

2

He was holding a phone, but had a gun bolstered on his hip. The gun was removed from his holster by the guy in the grey jacket moments before the ICE agent opened fire.

My theory is that he saw a hand pull the gun and panicked because he thought it was the victim's hand.

He clearly panicked specifically to something, it looks like he panicked at seeing a fellow "agent" pulling the victim's weapon. Not the weapon itself which he seems to be watching before drawing, but the hand removing the weapon.

Since he had tunnel vision on the gun, he failed to recognize the hand removing the gun as being separate from the victim.

-11

Watch the video again, he drew his gun after the other officer had removed the victim's gun. He then took the time to back away and reposition before shooting the victim

7
TheBunGodreply
lemmy.world

It seems pretty obvious that this was a retaliatory killing for the protests Friday and they targeted the guy with a gun so they could justify it for self defense

2

Exactly what I was thinking. The murderer who fired the first shot saw the gun, and even though it was another agent taking it, he saw it as a green light to execute Alex.

1

This one is even more brutal than I could have imagined. Do note that the same person who murders this man is also the same one who was pepper spraying someone who was slipping on ice and couldn't stand.

87
lemmy.ca

I had been struggling to see who exactly fired the first shot; but here it appears to be the brown shirt in a black toque and mask that's center screen for most of this video.

He watched the grey coat remove Alexs firearm, which means he knew he was shooting at an unarmed target.

The rest reacted to shots fired, unsure of where they came from; but still went WAY over board, shooting and continuing to shoot an unmoving target that posed no threat.

72
jj4211reply
lemmy.world

My theory is that he knew a hand just reached for and removed the gun from the victim's waist. He somehow thought that was the victim drawing his own firearm. It looks like he had seen the gun and was staring at it, but the moment the gun was touched by some hand, that seemed to the moment that drove his panic.

They are a bunch of idiots with no training or experience. The leadership is knowingly putting crappy people in the field, both malicious and incompetent.

-4

Your theory was wrong in the thread above and it’s still wrong here.

He knowingly murdered an unarmed man.

Everything I've seen so far is conservativesboot lickers saying "he should have stayed home", "he brought a gun to interfere with federal agents", "FAFO", etc.

Basically they've all given up on the idea of free speech and the right to bear arms, and have gone full on "we love big government".

20
Coelacanthreply

It's not that they suddenly love big government, it's that they don't actually think... period. Politics to these people has nothing to do with actual reality, and none of these people actually give a single thought about how politics actually impact their own lives. These people treat politics like a sports team. They are Republicans, so they're on team Red. Everything their team does is automatically good, because that's their team. Everything the other team does is bad, because that's the other team.

5

quokk.au

They don't like the kind of "big government" that pays for health care for poor people.

They do like the kind of big government that does mean things to poor people.

I know that sounds like hyperbole but that's pretty much it.

4
Coelacanthreply

Yes, but they only think that way because that's what they've been told to think by "their team". They're not Republicans because they are against free healthcare, they're against free healthcare because they're Republicans.

5

Nah, my dad will jump at any opportunity to talk about how bad and corrupt the Republican party is, but still votes for them every election because he agrees with pretty much everything they've ever advocated for except maybe Iraq. He's a Republican because he hates poor people and minorities and "communism", but not out of any sort of team loyalty.

3

People are brainwashed to defend the government and their agents no matter what. This happens regardless of who is the president.

Do you remember those news from like a week back or so how Putin Trump has 2000 active duty soldiers on standby in, wherever it was, close by? It seems to me that this was the play all along- pardon the J6ers and the proud pigs, give them weapons, uniforms and face masks, send them in to cause mayhem on the streets (just like Hitlers SA), and the second someone defends themself they send in the army and declare martial law. No more elections.

If this isn't exactly how it will play out I am going to eat my own balls.

16

You are right, but now what? Will Minnesotans allow the executions so Trump leaves the elections in peace? Trump will try to stop the elections anyway. I think Americans are already so deep into Trump's shit that they can't expect any laws to work properly at all. The rogue state that the USA has been for decades has finally come to occupy the USA territory.

I will continue to post this every time someone insinuates that someone else should murder Trump/ICE Agents/ etc. Instead, please focus on protecting you and yours.

In the US we have the Second Amendment. The fascists have been the ones screaming and yelling about the Second Amendment, but the truth is that all Americans have the right.

Owning a gun isn't enough. Driving to Cabela's and picking up a vermin killing .22 is not enough. You should buy a proper rifle, a pistol, and a knife or baton. (Bonus points for a shotgun) Then you need to train with said rifle, pistol and knife/baton. Go to a range and shoot. Look for local self defense/hand to hand combat with a weapon classes and train.

I am not advocating for violence...far from it. But I am advocating for knowledge because owning a weapon and not knowing how to use it is a recipe for disaster.

PS: If you can afford it, buy suppressors. Especially for your rifles. Suppression for the common citizen isn't about stealth like in the movies, it is about protecting your hearing. Guns are LOUD. Much louder than you expect. At the bare minimum, make sure you have quality active hearing protection.

13

Unfortunately, about 3% of the US population is currently barred from legally owning a firearm, based on a quick overview of studies on how many people have a felony conviction in the US. This number is significantly higher for African Americans and other races.

1

If Governors do not wield their State's National Guard and police forces to defend citizens from ICE terrorism, people's anger will only grow and more senseless killing will be had.

Tim Walz needs to buckle the fuck up and protect Minnesotans.

4

In a firing squad, all but one or two rifles are firing blanks so that no single shooter would ever know for certain that it was their bullet, and therefore it wouldn't weigh on their conscience.

These people all wanted in on it.

15
lemmy.today

I was taught that all the rounds are live, except one, so the victim takes multiple shots, but every shooter can convince themselves that they had the blank round, and didn't kill.

Otherwise you take a chance on those one or two shots not being mortal, and having to reload.

6

Genuine question - the agent firing the gun will go to trial, yes? Federal agents in the US can not just kill random people in the without going to trial before an objective court?

5
lemmy.today

It may take time, but he will be prosecuted. So will Renee Good's murderer.

Don't listen to the trolls, they said the same thing about George Floyd's killers, who are sitting in prison at this moment.

9

In the time since George Floyd's murder, much has changed. The courts are much more in Trumps pocket, and to the extent that they can male this a federal case, he'll just pardon the murderers again.

In the mean time, the Dems will focus on stepping on their own necks to prevent the GOP from doing it.

5

It may take time, but he will be prosecuted. So will Renee Good’s murderer.

Also, if you concentrate and push hard enough, monkeys will pop out of your butt.

I think many people think things will eventually go back to "normal". MAGA isn't going to let that happen. The democrats are far too weak and have no idea how to fight MAGA brainwashing. The only plus side is MAGA is nothing without Trump. When he dies, if the US hasn't gone full civil war, then MAGA might start to die.

I think MAGA wants a civil war though. They're have too much fun killing people in Minnesota and these inbred fucks probably can't wait to roll tanks into a city and open fire.

If you lean left, these people want you dead.

3

Hahahahaha, he wont see the inside of a squad car let alone a jailhouse or courtroom.

3

I had to keep jumping back to the start after the shots were fired because I couldn't tell which one was firing. I saw the one guy remove the gun from his belt, but I didn't actually see anyone pointing a gun at him when the shots went off. Silly me... I had been assuming it was one of any of the 5 guys actively struggling with him. I didn't realize it was the guy standing next to them trying to find a way to pepper spray him in the face (again) before reacting to the sight of a gun on his person that was immediately removed by a colleague by grabbing his own gun and unloading a clip into the guy.

Absolutely no justification for this, not even a long shot excuse about being in fear of his life. The gun wasn't in his hand, it was removed from his person entirely, and 4 other guys were actively restraining him down in a crouching position. The shooter was in absolutely no danger.

I don't know if this was cowardice and odiocy that resulted in an unreasonable fear response because these guys are just basement dwelling bigots that were handed guns and badges without any real screening or training, or if the guy has just been itching to shoot someone and he saw the gun in his belt as his excuse/opportunity.

Side note, even if I were an evil fascist racist small pricked ICE agent that fully supported killing this innocent bystander... I'd still be pretty fucking pissed that the dude fired on a guy that me and my 4 friends were actively dog piling on.

36

As I reach for what the hell specifically drove that guy to clearly panic and draw his firearm and shoot, my best guess is he saw the gun and then saw a hand pull it. His two brain cells failed to understand it was one of his own pulling out the gun and opened fire thinking the guy just pulled his gun.

Execution intimates order of law.

While it may be illegal under the letter of the law the government has acted to justify and normalize this action as a perfectly legal action.

Unless the government changes their statements we have to accept that DHS personal are allowed to kill Americans with total impunity. Those are executions.

4

I don't think that lawful execution of perfectly normal people intimates dignity.

I'm fine with calling it both, by the way. It was a murder committed by an ICE officer, and it was an execution committed by the state, whom the officer represents. The state is executing people.
