Her husband is a convicted rapist, and her brother is in prison for child rape. She loudly defended both of them, so I imagine she feels right at home with this admin

So what you're saying is that she's gonna be a really good politician some day

I don’t think her fan base understands basic concepts.

TBF they have done a lot of studies on the general populace in the americas and they have shown that the everyday person (which I am sure is a lot of her fans) doesnt care about any of it, they are so done with the nonstop barrage of shit some of it huge but takes years to do anything, most of it is just nothing burgers trying to get headlines. They are weary and need help, and I think that seems to be part of the plan to makes sure those that could help swing things are so checked out they just recoil when any subjects of that matter are brought up.

20

That seems pretty accurate. I'm an American who would claim that they care more than the typical person and even I'm so fucking sick of it all. I'm completely resigned to the fact that AI is going to make all of our issues 100000x worse along with the media consolidation into the hands of right wing billionaires... Our so called justice system failed every check imagineable and is now in the hands of Trump cultists and our judiciary has been stacked with a rubber stamp majority for the next 30+ years. I have absolutely no faith for the future...

I think it’s pretty accurate. Go find a big fan and tell them what she did and let me know how they don’t care. I’ll wait…

I wasn't "Barb" status but I liked her music enough to go to her concert.

All my downloads are deleted now though after this headline. I was already side eyeing her after she liked a tweet he made or whatever earlier this year.

No more watching her music vids or buying any future albums either. Had to do the same thing with Nova Rockafeller a couple years ago. God damnit.

No disagreement there. Ugh, I really wish us fans were more willing to send messages to the celebrities we like in general.

Unfollowing/deleting/refusing to buy new content is really the only power we have on our level.

I say as someone that used to be on Stan Twitter, the Barbz wouldn't care about it. Anyone who have slight criticism to her will get dogpilled and even doxx. It feels like a cult

Let's just stop caring what celebrities think, please. Unless they have education in science, economics, international relations, or other relevant areas they are even less qualified than random people on the street, as they are rich and likely out of touch with reality in multiple ways.

Let’s just stop caring what celebrities think, please. Unless they have education in science etc...

Mayim Bialik has a PhD in neuroscience and she's a vaccine skeptic and has a host of other offensively stupid ideas, so clearly not even having an education really counts as qualifications anymore.

lemmy.zip

There have been Nobel Prize winners who have held completely crackpot ideas outside of the often narrow field of research for which they won their prize: Shockley and Kary Mullis, to name two.

And it's not like Bialik is an immunologist. What's neuroscience got to do with vaccines?

and remember that PHD that was obsessed with race being "lesser than whites" under certain profession(i believe he was a psychologist)

alot of STEM people are nutty to, when they get drawn into a cult. i was in a forum about lyme and these middle aged white people(are the predominant members in this cult), some of them has a MS in sciences and believed in "lyme being a forever disease"{

Shocker, Nicki Minaj was not the deep intellectual we thought she was.

I like to assume the best of people. I like to think that some people are putting on a role of being dumb because it pays. I like to assume that people I don't know well enough are smarter than they appear to be. I do all this because being a cynic is depressing.

But sometimes, people go out of their way to dispel that charitable assumption.

It’s insane how rich people are so disconnected from reality and live in their own bubble ignoring all the horrible and evil things their fellow rich people do. At the end of the day is really is just a club of rich people with no real morals and the 99% are being tricked and lied to.

31

Part of being wealthy is you don't know if someone loves you or is being nice because they want something from you. It's incredibly isolating at an emotional level.

Minaj: Where’s the button I press to lose all my fans?

23

Her fans are super unhinged, I doubt she's losing any over this

9

Did she surprise them because they’re fucking idiots? Of course she’s one of them- she’s a fucking idiot.

This administration is full of people with heart and soul, and they make me proud of them. Our vice president, he makes me ... well, I love both of them,” Minaj said. “Both of them have a very uncanny ability to be someone that you relate to.”

https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/richest-rappers/nicki-minaj-net-worth/

Nicki Minaj is a Trinidadian-American rapper, model, actress, and R&B singer-songwriter who has a net worth of $150 million.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_Big_Beautiful_Bill_Act

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act (acronyms OB3; OBBBA; OBBB; BBB), or the Big Beautiful Bill (P.L. 119-21), is a U.S. federal statute passed by the 119th United States Congress containing tax and spending policies that form the core of President Donald Trump's second-term agenda.

Several think tanks, experts, and opponents criticized the bill over its regressive tax structure, described many of its policies as gimmicks, and argued the bill would create the largest upward transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in American history, exacerbating inequality among the American population.

I imagine that everyone can find ground to bond over shared concerns.

I'm sorry, who cares, but it's Nicki Minaj, if I want to know how to pop it like this, sure I'll ask her, until then, she can drool Trump for all I care, are ppl like waiting for ground breaking points of view from her or something?

shes probably looking to either get a pardon for his brother, get citizenship, and jumpstart her dead career. i heard shes deep in debt, because of her husband spending habits.

it make sense she comes from a family of SA-ers lol, some people on reddit suspect she could be one herself, thats why she started gargling the right wingers.

Tbh neither but telling public figures to stay in their lane is reductive. Better to foster a sense of encouragement to seek better perspectives imo.

1
lemmy.today

Telling public figures to stay in their lane is not reductive. It is a shorthand for recognizing limits of expertise and influence. Having a voice doesnt make one intelligent.

Encouraging better perspectives is ideal, but it is not always effective when harm or misinformation is already happening. Clear boundaries sometimes need to come first before nuance can land.

I also recognize freedom of speech, which means both person X and I are free to run our mouths.
